****Official B1G In-Season Thread****

What about the drive before for Illinois?

We called a timeout going into 3rd down.

Illinois gets called for holding on 3rd down.

For some reason the clock starts when you line back up after being moved back.

You guys cry about this stuff every loss.
One would think if the clock started at the wrong time that ended up harming Illinois more than Michigan, no?

Why have replay?

He pretty clearly was in the neutral zone on the snap. The rules guy just said the refs must not have thought he was offsides enough. That doesn’t mean they got it right.

Not that definitive to me, and he said that the no call was the correct call.

Honestly from that shot, it clearly looks like he isn’t offsides at all as the black line means nothing.

The refs missed the illegal pick. They shouldn’t have but they did. It happens and I understand the human error element of sports. But I don’t understand how instant replay is consistently botched. It happens in all games. I constantly bitch about instant replay because it seems like common sense, more often than not, flies out the window when the instant replay crew gets involved.

You all should be pulling hard for Maryland and Illinois today. I want good March Madness seeding.
I root for everyone on Purdue's schedule except:
  • Indiana (I just can't)
  • Any team we might be fighting for an NCAA seed line
Ironically, for the first time in a long time, both of the above might actually be the same.

This is always one of the dumbest things I read. There is no conspiracy between the conference and the officials. If there were, we'd know it in this day and age.
It’s not a black and white thing, man. I’ve seen interviews where refs admit to giving “legendary coaches” the benefit of the doubt on 50/50 calls because they’re effectively awestruck. The same thing can happen at an “iconic stadium” and a team playing for a CFP spot … bias can be and often is subconscious.

At the time it hurt Michigan. Michigan was on defense trying to stop the clock. It shouldn’t have ran but it did.

Jesus @Deathclutch, can you warn me before you put that shitshow you call basketball on TV? I just ate.

@WeAreDePaul, what the hell is your squad doing to his boys?

First off **** all y'all, especially any Iowa posters.

Secondly, our best player is out right now. Battle should be back on Monday.

Thirdly, we're playing four true freshmen in the rotation. All four have had a game where they have scored in double digits. Really like what I have seen from them so far.

Has the weird homosexual Indiana-Michigan love affair started up again already? 😂
Naaaah----We just like laughing at you dudes. Ya'll have become the Kentucky of college football----No loss is ever on the Illini----its the refs. Every game.

Heres a fact. Every team in the history of sports has benefited from bad calls----including Illinois. Its a part of the game----its gonna happen. Weird thing is, no one ever factors in the dumb shit their team(s) do that ALSO contribute to the loss. 60 minutes.....40 minutes....Yet every loss seemingly is b/c of a call or two. Nevermind the turnovers....bad defense, etc,etc.....

I get it----It softens the blow of losing by being able to put your suckiness on someone else but your team.

How about the catch? JJ being down? Lol Why have replay if you can’t get tho$$$e right.

The offsides was close and probably should’ve drawn a flag but the wr still could’ve scored.

Pretty clear the B1G wanted two teams undefeated going in to next week.

But BB didn’t try to win again and wanted to Michigan waste timeouts. Dumb strategy Illinois deserved to lose by not trying to win.

The best thing for Michigan’s resume down the stretch would’ve been Illinois coming in with one loss ranked 12th or so. Illinois coming in unranked sucked.

Bert still blew the games vs MSU and Purdue even with he B1G wanting them to win.

Yup that’s why holding and pi it is what it is. But plays that get reviewed zero excuse

When it’s clear, like the Corum fumble, it gets properly overturned. When it’s not clear, like JJs knee being down (it wasn’t by the time he regained possession), the play stands.

The Corum fumble was also whistled dead which prevented any run back by us.

The crew should’ve let it play out and then reviewed the play after to see if it was a fumble.

Mistake after mistake after mistake yesterday.

The catch wasn’t clear and obvious LOL

What’s funny is the clock starting when it shouldn’t have, something that clearly benefitted Illinois when it happened, you still try to spin it into being a conspiracy against you.

You simply cannot help but think everything is set up against Illinois.

Keep going.

Mistakes both ways.

You’d think after the stretch of blaming losses on the refs Illinois has had this year, at this point they’d have some self realization.

Nope, triple down 😂

Sounds like whole lot more on one side here.

Haven’t heard a whole lot go our way other than maybe a guy was in the neutral zone.

DPI Witherspoon got away with all day. No offsides call. The clock running when it should’ve been stopped after we burned a timeout.

You’d think one would just enjoy the victory, instead of keeping the conversation going.

Everyone was done talking about it, but you just gotta keep talking.

Distract distract distract
Hang on to the clock mistake when Illinois ran out of time.
You can’t dispute that there’s 2 clear f up’s by replay

Dog, there were 2 PI’s that weren’t called on Michigan either. Nobody mentioned em because the refs didn’t call them on either side….

Clock hurt Illinois in the end.

Still at maybe offsides. Keep it up

Reese has been a stud so far, and Scott has to be MVP of the tourney if MD keeps the lead.

Thought the replay showed he wasn’t definitively offsides and the announcers said as much?

The announcers didn’t think he was offsides and the retired official spoke on the broadcast and said that he didn’t think he was offsides. Was he offsides? IMO, maybe.

Per @miktimrob, the same rules guy said that it didn’t look like JJ had control before his knee was off the ground.

Are you guys picking and choosing when he is the voice of reason?
