If you could go ahead and spot us a 12% shooting night from 3 like you did Illinois, that'd be great.
I wouldn't count on it at home but stranger things have happened. Purdue has probably won the most games at the Kohl in the last 20 years. Or at least it seems like it.

I decided to look this up, because I was actually really curious. Kohl Center has arguably been the hardest place to play in the league since it’s opened, now in its third decade. Since the 1998 season, UW has only lost 43 home Big Ten games … 1.7 per year.

That’s amazing. Turns out the answer is MSU (as with most Big Ten trivia over this timeframe…), but here is the list with the last win in parentheses:

Michigan State: 8 (2022)
Illinois: 6 (2021)
Ohio State: 6 (2021)
Iowa: 5 (2021)
Purdue: 5 (2019)
Michigan: 3 (2021)
Northwestern: 3 (2018)
Maryland: 2 (2021)
Minnesota: 2 (2019)
Indiana: 2 (2001)
Nebraska: 1 (2018)
Penn State: 0
Rutgers: 0

Pretty pathetic by PSU, as they’ve been in the league the whole damn time, lol.

No doubt. Depending on who stays or goes and who is brought in, I could put Purdue anywhere between 8th and 1st in the B1G next year.
I think as Wisconsin proves this year, it’s just really hard to tell. In general, I feel that Purdue, Illinois, MSU, Wisconsin, OSU, Michigan and probably Indiana fans (though it’s too early to say) should feel very good about where the programs are and/or are headed. Iowa might be maxed out, Maryland is a complete unknown until a new hire is made, Minnesota is still an unknown, Nebraska and Northwestern likely need to make a change this year and I honestly don’t know what Rutgers should do…

That 2001 win for IU was in the conference tournament at the UC. I’m fairly certain the only time IU has won at the Kohl Center is the first time they played there.

Good summary. This is why I don't give a shit about preseason hype or rankings. We were hyped last year and ended up being the softest team I've seen in 20 years or more. This year picked 10th. You just can never tell for sure who will develop, how fast they will, and what freshman will be contributors or bench warmers. I wish we had gotten Roper. He's just going to be a good player on a shitty team for 4 years.

Where's Snu so we can get into a 3P shooting discussion between IU and Purdue? It would be a fun discussion this year (not really because no discussion with Snu was particularly fun). I know IU is improved (and Parker Stewart can sling it) but here are the 3 point shooters in Purdue's current rotation (excluding centers):

Gillis 52.3%
Morton 47.4%
Ivey 43.6%
Hunter 43.2%
Sasha 42.1%
Furst 41.2%
IT 40.8%

No wonder we are hard to slow down. With Edey/Trevion in the middle and Ivey slashing, which of these guys are you leaving open?

This is what's been missing from the board. I thought something was off, and it's 3pt% pissing matches.

You know what's missing? A detailed list of player heights, weights, star rankings, shoe sizes, dick hand length, vertical, eye color and pokes. Where's a Gil post when you need one.

I've been screaming to do this for years. Glad to see Painter has finally figured it out. I'm surprised more teams don't do it. I think Brad Stevens was the first coach I ever saw do it.

2for1s don't seem to happen that much in college but it's still a great strategy.
If the strategy becomes pervasive, I could see the NCAA change the rule and stop the clock after a made basket in the final minute of the first half. Honestly, I wish they would. It would bring the 2 for 1 strategy into play more often IMO.

Its a clever move, but you are taking a chnce here too on an official starting a count...Underestand this----IF an official feels the ball is at your disposal, within reach for you to get it, and put the ball in play, they can, BY RULE, start a count. This rule is in effect to keep teams from letting multiple seconds run off....Also, they can stop the clock in this situation if they feel the team is intentionally doing this to let time run off.

Illinois has a Baylor transfer who looks like he will fit right in to the big ten style of play. Dain Dainja. Big back to the basket big but has some flair to his game and passing ala Trevion Williams.

I’ll be more conservative on my approach to Michigan next year but maybe us depending on who returns. Trying to predict who will return hurts my head, though. We have about 6 guys I could see being here next year or just as likely not being here next year.
Indiana and Michigan would be the 2 that come to my mind first IF Kofi is gone and Dickinson/TJD return.

But both Indiana and Michigan will need someone in the backcourt to either get better in the off-season or grab a high impact guard in the portal. That’ll determine whether they are true contenders on a national level IMO

He’s still not a plus shooter(probably never will be) and is loose with the ball. He should probably come back and tighten those things up.
Would definitely help his longterm prospects in the league, but it’s doubtful given his position on mocks.

IU’s guard rotation next year projects to be:

XJ/JHS
Bates/Stewart
Galloway/

Not sure we need to be concerned with the backcourt.
