NIT best tourney this year

CBI quarterfinals are all tonight. Coastal Carolina at wvu, Utah valley at South Florida, Longwood at depaul, brown at LMU.

If things break right, I could see my mountaineers in Chicago lol
I’m enjoying myself watching the NIT. It’s almost April and I still get to watch my guys.

I'm salty as hell right now. I'm trying really hard not to be "that" guy about the refs...... but in all honesty I think Lipscomb was just meant to win - that fade away buzzer beater out of bounds while falling 3 pointer that hit off the corner of the backboard was a crazy shot.
Doesn't the garbage off-balance hero ball 3 pt shot just suck?

Face it. That's the new norm in basketball now.

Thought NC State was the better team...

But weird things happen...

Missed on NC State but got the other three teams right.

Both games are going to be highly competitive.
Texas/TCU
Lipscomb/Wichita State
Some weird things did happen. I saw some shots go in that looked like they had a magnetic charge or something. Wild game but fun to watch. Torin Dorn really showed out in his last game.

The weirdest thing about the tournament has been the bigger lane...
Seen some people take off a step early and missed dunks.
Have seen more missed dunks in the NIT I seen all year.

One list I'm happy Duke isn't on.

Meh, for several decades the NIT was looked at as the more prestigious tournament than the NCAA Tournament.

It was only when the NCAA began to rise in power over college athletics and began including more conference champions through the late 50s, 60s and 70s that the NIT fell out of favor.

Some of these teams won the NIT when it was just as big as the NCAA tournament, before they started taking at large bids.

Texas vs TCU
Lipscomb vs Wichita State

Talent wise I think Kerwin Roach is the best player.
I expect him to play at his best.
Bane and Noi both have killed Texas.

Texas has to keep TCU off the boards.

Wonder if they use Liddell more than any time in the season.
His progress during the NIT has been the reason why the tournament is worth watching plus Texas' young guards.

Lipscomb shredded our soft defense like mild cheddar. It will be fun watching them and Wichita State get up and down the court.

So the championship game seems to be two schools who are polar opposites

Small private school that no one has heard of against one of the biggest public universities in the country.

Offense vs Defense
Texas wins with D and Lipscomb with offense

Blue chip recruits vs recruits no one wanted

Fans who don't care vs Fans who this is important for

Great to see Lipscomb win but I say defense wins.
Think Lipscomb struggles shooting and their defense is piss poor.

You never know with coaching but to quote DKR "You dance with the one who brung ya"
Don't see that changing .

Think Kerwin Roach goes off again.

Lipscomb is legit. They would have been fun to watch in the dance. Should be an interesting game.

I am sure they are.
The two best teams Texas played this year are in the Final 4.
Michigan St and Texas Tech.
Texas went 0-3 against those three.

More than that those teams forced Texas to struggle on the offensive end.
Lipscomb isn't a team to question Texas' confidence unless they get unbelievably hot from the perimeter.
Teams that force Texas into bad shots and into the half court are the ones who have a chance.

Even good teams like Purdue and North Carolina couldn't do this.

Lipscomb doesn't have the backcourt except like I said they can hit a crazy amount of shots.
But teams struggle to shoot against Texas.
Even the best of them.
