Just the microscopic sample but Jalen Green looks legit. Fun player to watch.

He doesn’t stand out like I’d hope for a number 2 pick outside of his quickness and he’s physically underwhelming. It’s only one game, but I’m not close to being sold off of that first quarter

Marcus Garrett seems to be very impressive for the heat. I hope they sign him.

My irrational hot take after one game: Detroit screwed up taking Cade over Green. Green looks like a stud who will lead the league in scoring one day.

For the Hawks, Jalen Johnson looked like a major steal at #20. Looked really good last night.

Cooper looks really good in terms of getting into the lane and distributing the ball. Needs to work on strength, but looks like he could be a great pick at #48. Getting to learn from Trae will be a huge benefit for him.

Green looked like a stud. One thing I like to look for is how well a player moves and gets to the spot he wants. Green against this level competition could get whatever he wanted. He’s very athletic and quick with good handles and shot. Not worried about his strength as NBA trainers will make him stronger without losing quickness or athleticism.

Some former Ducks played well last night

Louis King - 16 points on 6 of 13 shooting
Payton Pritchard - 21 points, 12 assists and 8 rebounds (4-5 from 3)
Bol Bol - 26 points and 9 rebounds
Chris Duarte - 21 points and 7 rebounds

Yeah my post didn’t age well. I made it after the first quarter of his first game….he went on to look like baby kobe for the next 3 lol. Jalen green definitely looks the part so far

I think Cade will show to be the better all around player. Jalen looks to be a deadly individual offensive player out the gate, but shows little to no interest in playing any defense or setting his teammates up offensively

I'm not sure you can play him and Jokic at the same time, which is why Bol isn't playing much.
Why do you feel this way? They can both stretch the floor. Would both be defensive liabilities if on the floor together?

PG???
Murray
Porter jr
Bol bol
Jokic

Pretty talented 2-5, i guess murray can play point as well, im not sure who else they have in the backcourt besides barton iirc. They still have gary harris as well?

Carsen Edwards averaging 15.5 points, 8 boards and 5.5 assists against just 0.5 TOs.

Too bad he's just not big enough to get consistent NBA run. No way for a shooter like him to get into a rhythm. Only a matter of time before he's playing overseas IMO.

We saw it with Russ Smith a few years back. Amazing college player, just too small for the nba.

0.5 turnovers would not be on Russ’s radar tho 😂

Cade Cunningham is 6-9
What makes him such a dangerous player is that he doesn’t have an issue guarding the post.
He of course will need to add more size but it isn’t impossible to say that you can play small around Cunningham and create matchup issues.
Oklahoma State liked to do this last year.

Even better if you use an athletic big who can guard the perimeter and also play on the perimeter on offense

Cunningham is a player you really have to dissect his game to see why people are high on him.
Pretty much a Ben Simmons who can turn into a scorer.

don't mean to single out this post, but I personally put no stock in what vets do in summer league. Anyone who's played a year or two in the NBA should absolutely dominate Summer League. I only pay attention to the rookies.

That said........how bout DePaul's Max Strus!!!!!!!

I really wish Orlando would commit to having Suggs run the point full time in summer league. Really annoying seeing Anthony and Hampton take their turns at point guard while Suggs sits on the wing. This is summer league, just give the ball to the rookie and let him run the show.

Same with Detroit and Cunningham/Hayes. No desire to see Hayes with the ball, let Cade run the point so we can see what he can do.

Not sure I'd call Carsen a vet. He's played in 68 career NBA games and averaged 9 mpg in those games.

He made almost as many threes in the 2019 NCAA tournament as he has in the NBA.

I was thinking something similar with Nwora. But he also had a strong Olympic run and he kind of has an NBA game, at least he does when he starts and I use him for 3k in Draft Kings!

I call anyone who spent a year in the NBA or the G League a vet for summer league purposes. Just being in the league and being around those players should make a massive difference in a players game from year 1 to year 2.
