Louisville vs North Carolina

Carolina fans. Why does your team suck so bad right now? You guys were playing well earlier in the year and had some really good players. Louisville of all teams went in on your home court and beat the hell out of you.

I mean, we have the same players. That is the way this college game works. Seriously, we haven't been that good all year. Sometimes they just make enough shots to convince people otherwise.

100% agree. UNC is not that great but they have moments when they make shots and they look like world beaters. Their ceiling is sweet 16 this year unless something changes.

I’d like to know what’s going on with little. At the beginning of this yr he was deemed a stud and top ten pick. Is he just not as good as everyone thought? He tore up the mcds game. You have a lot or really good player on that team to lose to of all teams Louisville

Little looks lost. I'm not sure what his deal is. He is a good rebounder, bad defender, and surprisingly bad player in isolation. I think he needs to play more with the starters at times but when he does he still isn't very good so who knows? You can tell he is really thinking out there instead of just playing. Not sure what Roy can do to help him there tbh. It isn't like he isn't getting minutes or doesn't have the freedom to do as he chooses. He does. Just doesn't do it very well yet. Still pulling for him obviously. I think he will be really good one day. If it isn't until he is gone then that's cool. I'll pull for him then as well.

Little looks undraftable. Lottery? Top 5? Ranked ahead of Zion by Rivals? Lol. Someone should have their head examined.
Roy has developed him so he will have to come back to school next year. Roy doesn't like one and dones.

That’s one thing Roy doesn’t get credit for is somehow getting top players to not only stay one yr but 7 after that. Kennedy Meeks would of played longer, but he was finally able to drawl social security. Luke maye is almost there.

Maye was a top 100 player nationally. Top 75 by some services. Tony Bennett wanted him bad. Can you picture Maye in UVAs lineup? Wow.

UNC still has a decent team, despite what happened today. I don’t think they have the ceiling they’ve had in past years, though. The seniors don’t seem to be leaders. Not a knock on them at all. Some players just don’t have that mentality. UNCs lack of a true point guard and someone they can poind it inside to is also not helpful. They’ll still beat some really, really good teams this season, but they’re also prone to head-scratcher’s like today.

He cracked the top 100 on ESPN, outside of top 150 by Rivals and 247. The fact remains, he wasn't exactly walk-on caliber. The only reason Roy initially offered him a preferred walk-on spot for the first year was because he didn't expect to lose Tokoto and strike out on the recruiting trail.

He had offers from Notre Dame and Virginia without Google searching. He "walked on" because he was a legacy and his dad played football for UNC, let's not act like he was a legit walk on.

Yes, that's what I just said. Laughing

The NCAA witch hunt has hurt recruiting at UNC & it’s starting to show.
UNC has two 5* kids on the roster & they’re freshmen.
Those same two kids are the only McDonalds AA on the roster.
The starting lineup is one 5 star, three 4 star & one 3 star kid.
Absolutely NO excuse to get dogealked like they did yesterday but this isn’t your typical UNC team.
Not to mention, Roy has blown it with Little, so that’s not helping.
Jalek was a huge loss for this team & it’s showing by having to play White out of position.

You're blaming the NCAA for 5 stars choosing to play for coaches who will showcase OAD's as opposed to playing for a coach who prefers to develop players under a system that has worked for Roy to the tune of 3 championships and a dominating regular season conference record?

Just when I thought you couldn't get any stupider. You guys have been to two championship games and won a title since the "witch hunt" ended, dumbass.

Recruits were straight up lied to that UNC was going on probation.
I believe I said that Roy was to blame with Little. Roy likes to play upperclassmen, the same upperclassmen that we’re responsible for the two final fours & championship in 17.
Now, negative recruiting has caught up with UNC.

So you don't think that these players choose to go go Duke or Kentucky over unc because of the coaches and how they play OAD's? That's some tinfoil hat stuff there.

Can you not read????? Did I not say that Roy prefers playing upperclassmen?
There was also a lot of lying going on about UNC going on probation.

You guys are hilarious! Omg. So original and clever.

This board has hit an all-time low. Getting more difficult to come back w each post by some of you clowns.

Negative recruiting happens with every program. See Little’s comments earlier this season.

UNC brought in two five stars this season. They’re likely bringing in two more next year if/when they land Anthony.

A lot of their ‘so-called’ elite talent haven’t had much success early in their career. Pointing that out isn’t negative. It’s the truth.

Agreed but the last 4 years The was negative recruiting about the NCAA putting UNC on probation.
Brandon Ingram even admitted the NCAA crap played a roll in his decision.

That was mostly self-inflicted, though. You knew they weren’t getting punished and I knew they weren’t because the NCAA didn’t have the jurisdiction. In theory, ‘that’ was the NCAAs punishment. Taking all of the blame away from UNC is as short-sighted as me saying they ‘should’ have fried.

Talent is not UNC's problem. They have more talent on their roster than most teams have.
You're complaining about having a bunch of 4 and 5* players??? Get real.

Just saw the score, what the hell happened? And at UNC.

They rely on second chance points and transition points. If you can slow the game down and not give up offensive rebounds, you have a great shot against them. If you do those and they aren't hitting 3s, their half court offense will look pedestrian, and you get a result like this.

It's always the same game plan against them. Make them beat you at the 3 pt line, because that's not their strong suit.

Yeah, they have talent. They don't have as much as the top teams though. I mean, they are ranked in the top 20 and that is about where they should be with their talent. They are starting two 3 stars and two 4 stars and one of those 4 stars is Brooks, which seems weird as he wasn't considered all that great of a recruit. Then outside of Little there are guys in the 50-100 range coming off the bench. The pieces don't seem to fit great but the bigger issue is they simply aren't great in isolation and in today's game you have to have guys who can beat their man. They just don't.

NCAA on the Arizona campus?
No, but the freaking FBI was. Sean should have been fired and still could be. The situation is much more serious and would affect incoming recruits a heck of a lot more than what happened in the past at UNC.
The bottom line is these stud players want to get to the league and it just doesn't happen fast enough at UNC for most of the kids that think they're good enough to jump after year.
Consider yourself lucky that Little decided to go to UNC, he's easily a one and done at most other schools, if something doesn't change soon, he'll be at UNC next year. That will affect recruiting much more than the AFAM thing.

Wait, you have Cam Johnson, who came in as a known commodity, he was a stud when he got there.

You also have Seventh Woods, a veteran who was billed as a stud when he was in middle school. He's also a junior. He has been playing for Roy Williams for over two years now.

You also have Luke Maye, let's stop trying to knock him down now that things are going backwards. He is on a lot of first team AA lists, he has more than proven his worth the last two years, he has size, talent and is in his 4th year in Roy's system. He can shoot too. He is a positive player and is definitely not your problem.

You have Coby White, kid was lighting it up a month ago, he definitely doesn't suck.

You have Nassir Little, he's a top 5 or 6 recruit and is supposed to be an elite scorer.

Combine these players with the hall of fame coach you have and I just don't see the problem.

What I do see is a complete lack of defense. Teams are shredding UNC right now. UL shouldn't be good enough to score on UNC like that, but they did. UK struggles to score against teams like Vanderbilt, Texas A&M and Vanderbilt, but they scored at will on UNC.

As soon as UNC decides to focus on defense, they'll look like a team that has superb talent and coaching, because that's what UNC has.

You are basing a lot of this on a pretty severe lack of knowledge about these guys. That makes sense though. It would be like me breaking down UK’s roster and their issues. I don’t know a lot about the dynamics.

Cam was an extremely inconsistent player. I said as much when UNC was recruiting him. I wasn’t all that excited about him tbh. You are basing your opinion of him on what he has become under Roy, which is a lot more consistent. That is on him for working so hard to get there.

Seventh was a freak athletically but what else? The injuries have taken that away from him. He was also trending downward quickly heading into college as his lack of skill became more exposed.

Maye is good. Love the dude. He isn’t Uber talented though.

White is fantastic and very talented. Little is as well but clearly hasn’t learned how to understand the college game yet.

None of that matters if you don’t have guys who can beat their guy at times and UNC has one who can and that guy can’t use a left hand.

Those same issues are hurting them on D as well, where they are not good at all. They have some talent and skill but lack athleticism. I don’t think any sort of emphasis can help them on D. They aren’t going to be very good. They should just play zone, where they are actually decent. Roy doesn’t like rebounding out of it though.
