Ku fans regarding Billy Preston

Whats the latest? I’ve got a dude I know claiming he will be back Tuesday? Any truth to this, or is this just another speculative rumor?


I’d think it would be all over the place by now if the school had actually confirmed or spoke on the matter.

I haven't seen or heard anything different. A handful of guys think its gotta be Saturday against Nebraska or Monday against Omaha. I believe the Nebraska game is officially 2nd semester b/c Sam Cunliffe is eligible. If the whole situation has been Kansas noticing a possible violation, holding him out and waiting on the ncaa after reporting their findings.......Im not sure anyone could determine a timeline that is concrete based on who the eff knows how long the ncaa takes on these things. The # of games he has missed would surely satisfy any penalty for a minor/moderate violation. Then again, without knowing what the hell is actually the issue---its all just speculation.

Its pretty rare these days that no info has leaked----or appears no info has leaked. Maybe the speculations are mostly accurate. Preston wont be some Bagley type addition, but it will help us execute our style of play better.

Usually. Appears we are just going to keep the info under wraps until he is cleared and then let him play without giving any reason as to why he really sat out. A just be happy he's playing now and move on kind of deal. How I see it happening anyways

I think its safe to say he did. I am for any university playing it safe and holding players out. These schools do so much for these players its insane.

I'd be really really happy if I didn't hear or read another word about Billy until the situation changes. Just move on, it's easier to focus on the team adding Cunliffe and trying to play better defense.

Basically at this point I'm hoping to continue the Big 12 streak and make the smallest amount of noise in the tournament as a 3 seed. There's no point in hoping for anything more unless something changes.

And that's fine, KU is going to be really really good next year.

There very well could be truth in that. This entire situation is just bizarre beyond belief. The fact that the Preston case has been so air-tight lipped is astonishing especially in this day in age where truth or pieces of the truth get leaked so easily. The overall silence here is becoming more concerning & uncomfortable by the day. As a KU fan I’m trying to remain somewhat optimistic but I’m not sure how much longer I can hang onto that optimism whether it a little or a lot.

Preston, easily.

DeSousa might end up a better player but I don't trust a high school kid who hasn't had one practice or weight session to provide much more than giving 5 fouls. He'll be totally lost on defense and may only be good for depth and occasional rebounding. At least Billy has been practicing this whole time.

Billy is a good shooter, too. His midrange is automatic.

Which is good because from the sounds of it he can't handle a stick.

IMO, if he has to sit a year...it will be because he ruined his amateur status and therefore would never be eligible to play. I have a hard time thinking of a scenario that the ncaa would rule he is ineligible for a whole season, yet give him the okay for the remaining years. Thats going off the no information from no sources I have. Wash my mouth out...but GD I'd trade Peston for Landen Lucas in a heart beat

But I also think Billy fancies himself a one and done and has maintained that from the beginning. If his amateur status is not ruined and he plays a handful of games he may come back. I think this class is better than next year so maybe he can sneak into the lottery. I highly doubt that happens this year.

Self said recently that KU's info hadn't even been submitted to the NCAA yet. I assume it has been by now, but knowing how they operate, there won't be an immediate decision. I don't see Self as the type to predict something to happen if the chances are low. He said that based on the info they have on the situation, he expects him to play. It's probably only a matter of time.

And personally I think Preston will be well worth the wait.
