Well, THAT'S not true. UNC's reputation is definitely tarnished, even though I am sure you will argue that it is not, or that if it is it is unfairly tarnished. Has any other major school gotten in that much hot water with SACS? There is a reason that there were articles scoffing at Roy saying he never heard of cheating in sports, and why the New York Times literally had an article just in August talking about it. Like it or not, agree or not, I think that's fairly established... UNC has been basically the punchline in a lot of athletics/academics stories and such.
An excellent university, obviously, but they took a bit of a hit with this whole thing. UNC will be fine. Their rankings are consistently in the high twenties (#30 right now?)

Yeah, we care about UNC. We are UNC fans discussing UNC. You are UK fans talking about UNC. I mean, we don't really care a great deal what you think but will certainly discuss the UNC Tar Heels because we are UNC fans. It is entertaining for us to discuss UNC, being UNC fans and all. It is also entertaining to discuss UNC with other fans because we enjoy discussing North Carolina more than discussing other teams. We are happy you feel this way as well.

This is not something that has happened at too many other universities. In fact, I've never heard of it happening anywhere else.
You do know that SACS could have, probably should have, thrown the rulebook at UNC and taken accreditation away. They are the ones that caused the NCAA ruling.

The ncaa never looked into the “quality” of the AFAM classes. It’s not in their jurisdiction to say what is & isn’t a course.
The SACS found some irregularities with the courses & had UNC fix them.
That’s why UNC offered a make up course for those that wanted it, it wasn’t mandatory as the credits from AFAM still counted.
Do you know that there are universities that offer weightlifting for credit hours, it’s taught by a coach & only athletes can sign up for them.
UNC could’ve gone that route if they just wanted credit hours for athletes.
Yes, they could have gone a number of ways if they just wanted to give athletes grades. Some athletes at some schools get grades simply for playing a sport. Though the haters are too tunnel-visioned to understand the relevance of this to their argument. Of course, someone just seemed to use SACS to support their argument when understanding that SACS was the one with the power actually supports what UNC fans tried to tell these people all along. Whatever though.
