That list is shit. Sorry, but man there’s barely a movie on there in the top 50 (didn’t look past that) that I like. Just an awful list.

What do you think about this list? What do you think about that IMDb list? I think it’s pretty fair
You're nuts! This death scene might be my favorite scene in the history of the world! You can definitely tell the difference. One is dominated by movies 1980 or so and later and the other has very few recent movies.
For it’s time 1933 King Kong may have been better than the new King Kong but I’d much rather watch the new one (which wasn’t great). Hard to rank with the that in mind.
Top 10 movies? Hmm.
For me it'd be:
Shawshank Redemption
Godfather
Godfather 2
America History X
The Dark Knight
LOTR: Return of the King
Schindler's List
The Departed
Good Will Hunting
The Pianist

I seriously watched the 1933 version everyday when I was around 5 years old. I love that movie so much. Caught it on AMC last year and watched the whole thing. Still holds up.
Absolutely terrible. Lol. The new King Kong isn't an iconic movie by any means, but it's one of my favorite movies and I'm a sucker for Peter Jackson flicks.Bruh

I had a part time job at a video store back in '99 when everyone was putting out their "Best of" lists and I worked my way through every movie on AFI's list from that year. It looks like it's been updated to include a handful of new entries from the late '90s and this century. I've seen all of those, too.
I see maybe 3 of my top 10 in there. Solid list.Top 10 movies? Hmm.

It's still good, but if we really want to talk about how influential it has been, it's kind of hard to say nothing has surpassed it by standing on CK's shoulders, so to speak.I still haven't seen Citizen Kane but I've seen most of the other ones on that top 100 list. Or a lot of them atleast. I've always liked it as a top 100 list.
Anybody seen CK and liked it? People who see it for the first time today seem to have mixed reviews on it. I know that a lot of what makes it #1 is that fact of how groundbreaking it was from a story telling and cinematographic standpoint but I'm not sure how well it holds up.

It's a pretty solid list. There are some I really don't like and some where I disagree vehemently with where they are on the list, but I understand the case for inclusion w/ every one of them.

I've seen close to half of those and most are great.

Everyone has different tastes though. You have one movie in your top 10 that would be in my top 10. Tough to qualify taste.
And I’ve never understood the fascination w Boondock Saints. Think the ending kind of ruined it for me as I recall. Have zero desire to ever watch it again.
Yeah definitely. But even if I don’t like a movie I understand when the masses think it’s great. I don’t like forest gump at all (in fact you couldn’t pay me to watch it from start to finish again) but understand that it’s still a classic. I think people aren’t giving The Dark Knight due credit even if to them it was just an okay movie.
Michael Keaton is the real Batman. He also can act circles around Christian Bale.

Isn’t the ending super far fetched? Something didn’t jive for me. Watched it forever ago, or so it seems. Maybe I’ll try it again sometime.Man, I love Boondock Saints. Hell, I love the sequel.

This is a pretty good list that isn't too safe or recent. But every list is either a little too "safe" or has too much recency/generational bias for my taste.

They shoot a guy in a court room in front of police officers and stuff. It’s far fetched to think they’d get away with it, but the scene itself is pretty badass. It’s one of those movie scenes that I’ll YouTube from time to time along with “my name is Maximus Decimus Merrideus” and other sweet scenes.
You might be talking about the scene where they fall from the ceiling dangling from a rope and take out a room of 8 guys while hanging upside down. Pretty unrealistic but still cool.
Citizen Kane is a classic...love that movie. I like offbeat so it might not appeal to a lot of people.I still haven't seen Citizen Kane but I've seen most of the other ones on that top 100 list. Or a lot of them atleast. I've always liked it as a top 100 list.

1. William Wyler
2. John Ford
3. Frank Capra
A distant fourth, I would go with Clint Eastwood or Billy Wilder.
