Give a basketball hot take

n era In the modern era, Arizona blows them away in everything. With over twice as many tourney wins over the last decade plus. And I’d say a pretty big advantage at head coach right now.

The gap narrows some if you factor in ancient history, but those games don’t have anything to do with Rodney Terry. We’ll see what he can do with his own players. He’s never succeeded before and never even had interest from major conference programs. Making a decent run last year might have actually screwed up their future because they felt obligated to keep him.
Modern era vs last decade plus is quite the difference. The past decade or so, no its not close..

AZ
3 E8
6 SW 16
8 NCAAT

TX
0 E8's
1 SW 16
7 NCAAT

But damn, AZ has lost a lot ealry...

2016- 1st RD(6 seed)
2017--SW 16(1 seed)
2018- 2nd round (4 seed)
2019- Missed
2020-COVID
2021-Missed
2022- SW 16(1 seed)
2023- 1st round (2 seed)

Not good...

I really like this proposed game and I love the back and forth between these two ciaches. Bill Self had me laughing at the end.

He didn't say anything remotely close to "I'd rather win conference titles than national titles." He listed conference titles as one factor, along with multiple nat'l titles, tourney appearance every year, no losing seasons/NITs, etc.

Do you actually expect KU fans to ignore their conference titles and pretend that they're not a factor?

Face it, you guys only downplay conference titles because Kentucky can't come close to matching what Self has done. Doesn't make much sense to bag on Big 12 titles when your own program can't consistently win a league full of football schools.
I'm a few days behind but he literally said as close as you can to conference tittles mean more.

Any program that goes to the tourney consistently has their share of early exits. K finished with a 2nd round loss or worse 15 times.

Devilz’ ranking only has 5 programs above AZ in the modern era. I think they’ve underachieved a little, but what they’ve accomplished is still far better than most, including Texas. Few programs have underachieved as much as Texas. They have all the advantages you could possibly want, and just as many NBA guys as AZ the last few decades, but they’ve done less.

Only five ahead of Arizona since 1984?

Really?

Or is there another "modern era" I am not aware of?

Duke, UNC, UCLA, Kansas, UK---then Arizona?

Really?

Damn...

His modern era top 10 is Duke, KU, UNC, Kentucky, UConn, Arizona, Mich St, Nova, Syracuse and Michigan.

Don’t think it’s been updated since UConn’s title though.

No UCLA? Even Louisville?

UCLA has One natty, One runner-up, 5 FF's, 7 Elite 8's and 17 SW 16's.. Da ****?

Man has UCLA ever killed themselves with that early dominance. They got more of everything, sans titles, than AZ, but aren't even in the Top 10?

No chance.

...not when the stats back it up. You know, like those pesky 45 conference titles (as well as the many lopsided W/L records vs the rest of the SEC), but please, ramble on.

Sorry, an opinion is an opinion.
