Dude loses a video game and shoots a bunch of people.

Damn. One of the victims was a friend of a friend...WV guy. Taylor Robertson aka SpotMe

Terrible.

That sucks. I work with a lady who has a son who is a well respected gamer. Like, sought out best in the country gamer sort of guy...whatever that means. I guess I'll ask her tomorrow if knew any of these guys.

Taylor won the 2017 Madden Classic. Had just picked up a big sponsor a couple weeks earlier that was bringing in some really nice money. Pretty sure he was considered one of the 5 or 10 best players in the world. Leaves behind a wife and kids.

Everyone in the Madden community knows Trueboy and SpotMe. They are superstars in the industry.

One of my best friends is very good (routinely beats top 10 players in Weekend League) and said that SpotMe was the best player in the world over the past few years.

Undeniably top 10.

Arguably the best.

Yeah, my boy (stepson) plays some and watches some of these guys on Youtube. I won't see him until tomorrow but I would guess he has watched them before. Are those two of the victims? Just seems kind of weird even asking that tbh. Regardless of what they were to the gaming community they are people with families who were murdered.

How did you know him? He was arguably the best player in the world. Sorry for your loss.

Knew him through a good friend of mine who grew up with him in Monroe County, WV.

I wasnt super close with Taylor, but hung out with him multiple times at WVU games and would definitely consider him a friend. He was a great guy. Hard to believe. His family and close friends had to learn about his death from twitter.

He was a huge Titans fan, and became really close with their marketing dept after winning that club series. Always played with Titans and wore their jerseys. Sounds like they're gonna do something to help his family. Like I said... has a wife and a young son.

Really cool of the Titans organization to help his family out.

EA Sports should do something for the families.

Man, making light of people shot and killed to make take a political jab at others. You must be a real good person...
Doing nothing politically is making light of it, no matter how many words and tears you use to say it's sad.

Nope. Not how it works.

But please, don’t let me stop you from making yourself look like a bad person.
You knew it would be him, too. A guy gets mad becuase of a video game and shoots people. Dat brings up gun control like clockwork. Do we even know what kind of gun was used? Sounds like it’s just a pistol from the video. Would make Dat look even more like a fool.

All I did was offer thoughts and prayers, like every other person offering thoughts and prayers. Sounds like snu's guilty conscience is getting to him.

Yup, him and Q. It’s weird because Chicago has been all over the news lately for shootings and yet they’re, silent....

Acting like he was seriously about his comment and it not being a politics one is disengenuous at best. But hey, who am I to stop him from looking like a bad person.

Agree on the pistol. Not loud enough for a rifle, IMO. They laser pointer on the kids shirt in the video is crazy.

Everyone can see what you’re doing, man. If you don’t have anything constructive to say about the topic then you can ignore it. Everyone on this board and their mother knows your stance on guns.

I actually haven’t seen that video yet, just the one where the guys are playing via streaming. I’m gonna have to take a look at it here in a minute. I can’t imagine getting worked up so much over a video game. What a POS this shooter was.

The easiest way to avoid falling into a political trap is to just ignore the deflectors and continue discussing the topic. It is the same people who have no intention of talking about the subject of a particular thread, but generalize every case as if they are all the same.

We all knew where dattier was going, but we could have just let it be.

There's clearly a red dot on the front of his shirt for a split second before the first shot fires and the stream stops showing them.

Sounding like it's a player named "Bread" aka David Katz that lost to Trueboy earlier in the day (one of the best in the world) and couldn't handle the trash talking.

He didn’t even play Trueboy from what I saw. He lost to someone else. Trueboy and Spotme were there just having a good time like everyone else. They never talk trash. Imo, it was premeditated.

The fact of the matter is, there was little to no security at this event and it’s been that way. Maybe EA will wake up because I’ve seen where some pros have been complaining about the lack of security for awhile now.

Has the guy in the White House mentioned this shooting?

This conversation is about this particular shooting. Not the politics you are looking for. If you and a couple of your buddies had the ability to stick to the topics of these threads, or simply opt out of posting in them all together, they wouldn't turn into the useless back and forth that they always do.

But sure. Not to your satisfaction I am sure. But he did something more important than sending out thoughts and prayers.

My favorite thing is when people bring up Chicago like it's supposed to make a point. Fact is, having super strict gun laws mean shit when the state directly next to you is the complete opposite.

I won't condemn anyone throwing a controller. I've gone through several myself. Lol.

If you've never broken a controller playing games have you really played video games?

The worst was when you'd slam your Nintendo controller onto the coffee table and the game would just freeze. Since you could never save games back then you would have to turn it off and then start over from the beginning. That's probably why nobody could ever beat Battletoads.

Jesus and I thought I was an asshole for one time throwing a controller through a glass coffee table.
Joel Berry broke his hand before the season because he lost a video game which obviously led to UNC losing in the second round.

Are Q and Datt trolling or being insufferable? I can't tell sometimes.
They're not trolling.
