Big 12/SEC Challenge

This would probably be the most even

Kansas - Kentucky
Texas Tech - Auburn
Iowa State - Mississippi State
Oklahoma - Ole Miss
TCU - Alabama
Kansas State - Arkansas
Texas - Missouri
Baylor - South Carolina
West Virginia - Georgia
Oklahoma State - Texas A&M
No Tennessee or LSU?
I'd get Texas A&M and Georgia out of there. Put UT up against Texas Tech, LSU up against Iowa State, Ole Miss vs Oklahoma, Auburn vs TCU and slide all the other SEC teams on your list down two spots:
Kansas - Kentucky
Texas Tech - Tennessee
Iowa State - LSU
Oklahoma - Ole Miss
TCU - Auburn
Kansas State - Alabama
Texas - Arkansas
Baylor - Missouri
West Virginia - Mississippi State
Oklahoma State - South Carolina

This is how it should be. The BIG 12's top ten vs the SEC's top ten.

Lol, stop it.

B12 got the entire top half of their conference in.

SEC is missing Auburn, LSU, and State. Trotting out their conference standings 2 weeks into conference play to downplay State and Auburn is an awful take.
The Big 12 only has 10 teams, so they all play in the challenge every year.

2,6,7,10, those are the SEC rankings not playing. Auburn wouldn’t beat a top level Big12 team without their big man.
In other words, 3 of the 4 SEC teams not playing are currently in the top 25. It is easy to say Auburn wouldn't beat a top level Big 12 team without Wiley since they aren't playing. Auburn is a heavily guard-oriented team to begin with and are still very capable without Wiley, especially if they're at home. But of course you're just saying that because they just lost to UK. Winking

Should be SEC #1, 2, 3, 7, 8, 9, 10, 14, 15, 16 IMO
You get 3 of the best/worst then the middle 4.

Go look at Auburn’s schedule, Washington is really the only good team that they’ve beaten. They’ve lost the rest of the challenging games. Auburn is fun to watch, but they aren’t nearly as good as their rankings have had them.

Agree, somewhat. When they are hitting three's, they are really good. Missing Wiley vs UK was huge. Not saying they win with him....but it sure would have helped.
Iowa State is a solid win...14th KenPom

Murray State might be a better win that Washington.

Arizona is a good win; 14-5----Top 50 KenPom.

Their resume isn't that bad.

LSU has already lost by 13 to the worst BIg12 team (OSU)....

LSU is one of the youngest teams in the country and they are looking a helluva lot better these days as opposed to the first month of the season. I wouldn't put too much stock into what LSU did at the start of the season, totally different team now.

Iowa State was without half their team when they lost to Arizona. They’d win by 10+ with the team they have now.

They're only 16th, it's not like they are top 5. All their losses are to top 25 teams and 2 were on the road.

And they're 9-1 since then and in the top 25. Not sure I understand your point here. Since they already lost to the worst Big 12 team, in November, that means they would be guaranteed to lose to any Big 12 team if they were to play in this challege? Vandy, A&M, or Georgia would be more likely to win than LSU?

Louisville has 5 losses to AU's 4 and Indiana and Pitt are not in the top 25
Your conference honking is funny. Auburn is a good team when healthy, equivalent to Syracuse.
They can win a tough game on occasion, but lose more tough games than they win.

Ok? I was talking about good wins for Auburn. But hey----for what its worth, I believe ya man..SmokinSmile

For the lazy.

2019 SEC/Big 12 Challenge - January 26, 2019 (All Times Eastern):

  • 12:00 p.m. - Florida at TCU (ESPN/ESPN2/ESPNU)
  • 12:00 p.m. - Alabama at Baylor (ESPN/ESPN2/ESPNU)
  • 12:00 p.m. - Iowa State at Ole Miss (ESPN/ESPN2/ESPNU)
  • 2:00 p.m. - Kansas State at Texas A&M (ESPN/ESPN2/ESPNU)
  • 2:00 p.m. - Texas at Georgia (ESPN/ESPN2/ESPNU)
  • 2:00 p.m. - South Carolina at Oklahoma State (ESPN/ESPN2/ESPNU)
  • 4:00 p.m. - Vanderbilt at Oklahoma (ESPN/ESPN2)
  • 4:00 p.m. - West Virginia at Tennessee (ESPN/ESPN2)
  • 6:00 p.m. - Kansas at Kentucky (ESPN/ESPN2)
  • 6:00 p.m. - Arkansas at Texas Tech (ESPN/ESPN2)

I'm predicting a push.

South Carolina and Auburn play tomorrow, I’d expect Auburn to win even without their big man.

SEC teams not participating Saturday, going by current standings.

2
8
9
11

If you had to pick teams to even it out, that’s about right. Maybe take out #4 ( Kentucky) and replace them with #2 (LSU)?

Or we can just take the best 10 teams from each conference and match them up accordingly.

Pretty sorry slate of games for a conference challenge. I think Big 12 wins at least 7. Tennessee will stomp the crap out of West Virginia and UK should beat Kansas. After that...maybe Ole Miss?

Exactly, the matchups strongly favor the BIG12. Maybe next year we should remove Iowa State, Texas Tech and Kansas State and see how the BIG12 does against the best the SEC has to offer.

Why wouldn't we want the best ten from each conference in the challenge?
If we want a true challenge, shouldn't the best teams play?
That’s also the worst 10 from the Big12, I wouldn’t want to see the worst 10 play against each other either.

Kinda looking forward to the Iowa St. game against Ole Miss on Saturday at OM. Pretty legit SEC/B12 match up for some smash mouth talk.

It's the only 10 they have.
Bottom line is Auburn, Miss State and LSU, three ranked teams, aren't playing.
Auburn was left out last year too, which is strange.

very, wtf?
Yup, this is two years in a row that Auburn was left out. I thought for sure they would be in it this year simply because they were left out last year. That's a good team sitting on the sidelines.
Meanwhile, Georgia, Texas a&m and Vanderbilt are in it.
Can you imagine the Duke, Louisville and North Carolina State Being left out of the ACC/BIG?challenge?

Wake Forest was left out. Lol

For the most part they do a home/away series between 2 teams. So if you play a team one year, you're gonna play them again the next year.

Not sure why Auburn would've been left out last year. Maybe because they finished 11th in the SEC Standings in 2016-2017?

I don't know. Whoever is on the SEC's side here when it comes to scheduling needs to do a better job if there's not an exact criteria that they're working with.
