You CANNOT be that thick.
A guy says "I'm a Duke AND UNC fan." On the face of it, that sounds ridiculous, and makes people laugh.
I respond with a question that, you would think, is THE definitive question that will show what school they are TRULY a fan of, a question most of us already know our own answer to and which I think ALL of us would be a pretty good indicator, because there is not a single Duke fan who thinks UNC is innocent and there is not a single UNC fan who thinks UNC is guilty. I even insert the possible Duke and UNC responses, without any judgement, and then add a faux UK response (because they focus on UofL) and a faux South Carolina response that plays on their overwhelming confidence, aggression, and frequent use of the term Carolina.
If you really don't see that the whole thing was meant to get a laugh, I can't help you. I have a feeling that the only fans who will get upset by that and take it seriously is UNC fans.
Five or six sentences is too long for you to read? And yet you felt the need to chime in on something you didn't even read?

That's okay man. Honestly wasn't taking a shot at UNC; that whole thing is basically done. Was really taking a "shot" at how entrenched Duke and UNC fans are in their respective positions, how those positions could be used as a litmus test, and at UK and South Carolina fans too, one for hating UofL so much, the other for being... well, who they seem to be on this forum

If you want to spin it off like that, go ahead. No true Duke fan would ever root for unc and no true baby blue pansy would ever root for Duke. This guy just seems to be a confused casual fan of Auburn who has parents who went to Duke and unc.
And we have MAYBE 1 or 2 UK guys that say they cheer for the Cards if they aren't playing the Cats. And it doesn't stop you guys (can't remember exactly which Duke fan) from using it as an argument that your rivalry is better. Not a big deal, just pointing it out. I think its silly either way

It was a major fail, though. Equivocating (1) a major NCAA investigation into an embarrassing academic issue with (2) a baseless claim by a blogger is returning fire with a finger gun.
In my experience, if you say you're a "lifelong Duke and UNC fan", it really means you're a Virginia Tech football fan.
Thanks for your question. I see Purdue and Villanova as our main competition to cut down the nets. Maybe Duke and to a lesser extent Kentucky if all that talent can figure it out here in the last month. I think the 2 seed in the South region with UVA would be a pretty clear path to the final 4.
I think UVA would be thrilled with Auburn as their 2 seed. The only downside would be playing Auburn in Atlanta but I think we match up incredibly well with Auburn. That would be a lot of orange and blue in the stands.
Yeah maybe I haven't seen enough of UVA to fully appreciate them. I just know they don't have a humongous front line littered with NBA lotto picks. Would be a great matchup cause our O is for real.
That is true. But we did just beat a team that does on their home court. Your offense is not better than Duke's and our defense is far better than any defense your team has seen this year.
Coming from a Mizzou fan (i know, I know) Auburn just came in to our place and took us to the cleaners which no one has done so far. Not even Florida when they got to playing better. They never give up and Pearl has them hungry. Will be fun seeing what they can do the rest of the way.
Ok I renege on wanting UVA. Rather be a 2 in the South than 1 seed in W or MW though.
