2023-24 Pick'Em, Final Standings!!

Okay, time for an early season bonus round. I'm not going to have any Maui games for the Pick'Em contest next week (first game is Monday at 2:30), but thought for bonus points we could pick the Maui Champ. Pretty crazy to have 5 of the top 11 teams (and 3 of the top 4) in a preseason tournament

If you correctly pick the Maui champ before the quarterfinals begin: 6 points
If you correctly pick the Maui champ before the semifinals begin: 3 finals
If you correctly pick the Maui champ before the championship begins: 1 point

Only one pick, of course.

Maui Invitational
#7 Tennessee vs Syracuse
#2 Purdue vs #11 Gonzaga

#1 Kansas vs Chaminade
UCLA vs #4 Marquette

You can pick your Maui champ now, or wait until the Week 3 games have been revealed, and include your Maui Champ with your 6 Pick'Em games.

FWIW, UCLA is #29 in votes for the AP Poll.

You are reducing the most exciting week of the year short of the Dance to one pick!

The games start early on Monday. Not sure that will allow everyone sufficient time to get their picks in.
it won't. Just do what you're doing. For next week there are plenty of games to choose from that don't start early Monday morning.

Memphis @ Michigan
Oklahoma @ Iowa
Arizona vs Michigan State
BYU vs ASU

Ok so there's not a lot of games, but I'm sure you'll figure out a couple more to throw in there.

There are some other decent matchups, too.

So, early Monday is a concern about Maui. The other concern is, there are clear favorites in the quarterfinals. Everyone is taking Tennessee over Syracuse, Kansas over Chaminade, and Marquette over UCLA... the only debatable one might be Purdue/Gonzaga, but I'd guess 90%+ would still take Purdue.

yea I like the way you're doing it. Keep Maui out of the weekly pick em since its Monday and the games aren't good for pick em anyway. But throw a bone to the Maui fans by doing the thign where you pick the winner.

Then just do a normal pick em with other games from the week.

TL;DR = The Champ approves

Mr. Last Place already feeling the heat so gotta roll out the bonus round early. 😁

Purdue for 6.

Kansas.....6 points. I like Purdue, but just dont think their guards can match KU

Note---I think GU could win this. Almost took them.

There was no real reason for you rush to make a bad choice, but obviously you just did.
I wanted to pick UT, Della! Just figured so many other people would so I played the odds to gain some distance if Purdue does win. A chance worth taking when you’re only 1 point behind the leaders and are 4-0 so far this week. 😎

You're an awful liar Kevin, but since it's a good lie, I'll let it go. At least your disappointment will come on Tuesday and you won't be stewing on Wednesday.

What's that say about a state that has 5x as many meth labs as KS? 🤣
It says kansas is the most boring state in the country. Do you actually live there? Have you ever driven through that god for saken state? It's terrible.

I’ve only lived in the Lawrence/KC area. Sure, western KS is boring. But at least they can afford dental premiums.
