You could argue the entire top 5 is SEC

The better question to ask is at this moment, between UK and Duke, who deserves to be ranked higher?

Forget about what the polls have said, or predicting what you think the polls will say, do you think UK should be ranked ahead of Duke at this point?
What I really think it the best way to decide the rankings is let Vegas do it. I don't think a committee of voters, who have emotion involved and don't watch every game could ever be more accurate than Vega odds makers.

Both fanbases can make a case for which should be higher. Ky beat Duke, who had two key contributors not available at the end of the game, same as Ky vs the Zags but they still lost to an unranked team. Duke beat #2 Auburn, who had beaten Houston, Iowa St, UNC, and Memphis. I do know who KenPom, Barttorvik, the AP voters, the NET, and Vegas thinks is the better team, but what do they know? If Duke and Ky played a 7 game series right now, I think it goes 7 games.
To be intellectually honest, only one Duke player was out at the end of the game, and that was a bench player.

As for the second player, if Scheyer thought Maluach couldn't go, then he wouldn't have been out there at the end falling for pump fake after pump fake by Carr. That's called a senior taking a freshmen to school, something that happened all too frequently to Cal's one and dones.

I agree. It would most definitely be a toss up if they played again. But based upon resume only, UK has a stronger resume, including less losses (losing at #16 Clemson is on par with losing twice to top 10 teams on neutral courts) and better wins (head to head as well), which is why UK should be ahead, in my opinion.

I don't disagree that an argument can be made either way, and this is one thing I have always thought was a flaw in the AP poll, if you lose, typically you will drop...period. Even if say the #25 ranked team lost by one basket at the #3 ranked teams gym, they will typically fall out of the rankings. Maybe they covered the spread by a lot and should have actually moved up? Anyway, it will all work itself out by March.

Kenpom has Indiana 44 and Louisville 57, Louisville beat them by 30. Kenpom in December is useless.
It’s not about 1 game, it's the entire body of work.
That Ole Miss blowout y'all took, is really hurting you.

An even better question is WHO GIVES A SHIT?

Correct approach, which is why you look at the entire resume.

Kentucky has a better resume then Duke (including factoring in head to head win), thus should be ranked ahead of Duke. And I am not saying you disagree with this, was just using your post to make an overall comment.
Better resume? That's debatable. They've beat 1 more top team than Duke. Duke has played a much better schedule.

They haven't really played anyone yet have they. I mean Baylor, but I watched that game and Baylor didn't impress. Not ranked anymore either.
Baylor not impressing kinda speaks to the Vols impressing, doesn’t it?

And Kentucky is 2-0 away from home against top 10 teams.

Duke is 0-2.

No win in Cameron is worth anything. Only losses matter in that corrupt gym.

Baylor lost to gonzaga by what basically amounted to 50 points and barely beat a terrible arkansas team. Baylor would be UK's 6th or 7th strongest opponent to date...
Get out of here with that crap. Until y’all played duke and zags they measured y’all’s SOS in astronomical units.

Kentucky has played the #3 and #4 in NET rankings at neutral sites and #11 on the road.

Tennessee's 3 best opponents have been (wait for it) #28, #62, and #125.

You sound like the dumbest idiot alive.

UK is 10-15 at best. Very unpolished team.

Less than 10 games into a season with a new coach.

It's a huge down year if we're top 5.

It would explain UT and AU being the top 2 teams.

*very little 6 year players left over from COVID. Those that have them, enjoy them. Next year is a different ball game. Same as it ever was.

So, you're telling me that NET ranking is the end all be all, good. Tennessee is the #1 in NET ranking, so your argument and Kentucky is not.

You deflected and failed to address my assertion that before Duke and Zaga UK had a weak schedule.

You moved the conversation from a topic that was more favorable to you to one that is not.

Someone that does that doesn't sound like the dumbest idiot, but is the dumbest idiot alive. 😄

NET rankings of Kentucky and Tennessee's first 3 opponents

UT: 192, 62, 151

UK: 110, 233, 4

so kentucky played 2 of the 3 toughest opponents in each team's first 3 games, including a top 5 team on a neutral court.

Go back to licking moonshine jars, gram

CBB is not about cherry picking stats to give yourself the answer you want. You have to take in in totality. Things like UK being run out of the gym in the first half and trailing so much of the games they have played does too.

A tip in at the buzzer doesn’t make the statement that you have a dominate team simpleton. Yeah, I know I called you that earlier, but you worked real hard and earned it again.

I am glad UK has had a couple of close wins, it is more fun to engage supercats instead of mopey cats.

Its Dec 10th dude.

Lighten up.

None of the things you are concerned with matter one bit.

Apparently you do, since you took the time to respond with such an insightful reply.

No, I couldn’t care in the slightest where these teams are ranked in early December. Are you guys actually this worried about early season rankings or just obsessed with Duke?

Holy shit, it’s like it’s your first time being ranked.

Aren’t you the guy who said that Baylor would be the 6th or 7th best team from a list consisting of Duke, Gonzaga, Clemson, Wright St, Bucknell, Lipscomb, Jackson St, Georgia St and Western KY?

Congrats, you literally may be the dumbest man alive.

Thanks message board police for letting us know what we should or should not be discussing on an anonymous board.

For someone who doesn't care, you sure do post a lot in this thread.

I look forward to your next reply telling everyone how you don't care in the slightest, yet you continue to post in the thread (only to bash UK fans, as that is your obsession on this board, glad we are always top of mind).

And no, I have never been ranked before.

The Baylor thing was silly but there’s no question who’s had the tougher schedule so far. Kentucky has the two best wins between us and Tennessee and it’s not particularly close.
There is also no question on who is the better team between UT and UK so far with the answer being UT. If you choose to pick the "so far" hill to fight on that is the hill you will die on.

At this point, I would have no idea who is better between UK/UT (and full disclosure, I have not watched one second of UT this yr).

Personally, I think UK has played tougher competition (two top 10 neutral court wins, loss at top 20 Clemson); however, to UTs credit, they haven't lost yet.

Gonna be crazy in the SEC this year.
