That is nothing, years ago when Rivals had "fan pages" Hawkit was being messed with by another poster and he assumed it was me. I had never done anything to him, I still have no idea why he assumed it was me. So, he hit me up on my fan page and wanted me to apologize. I had no idea what he was talking about and when I asked him, he refused to tell me, but then he threatened me (going to get me). He started trolling my every post.

The University of Tennessee is not privately owned. They shouldn't be able to kick him out of school over this, yet that's what people are hoping for.

Doesn’t matter. It’s still not a 1A issue. UT receives some public funding...but it also receives private funding and charges tuition. The government does not call the shots for UT.
Every university has a student conduct policy, and can boot any student that violates it. The government has nothing to do with it. Ergo, not a 1A infringement.

When people bring up ‘freedom of speech’, like you did, they are referring to the 1st amendment rights.
The misconception is the 1A protects individuals from society. It doesn’t. You can’t just say and do whatever you want free of reprecussion. ‘Free speech’ only applies to the government, not other people, institutions, etc.

But should they expel them, it would obviously go to court. The university would argue that the students are detrimental to the university's ultimate goal of diversity and equality. The students would argue that their actions were in no way intended to represent the university and that by expelling them, the university to measures to restrict or suppress their freedom of expression. In this scenario, the 1st amendment would come into play because it doesn't only protect you from criminal prosecution, but civil cases as well. It's a stretch, but it could lead to that.

IDK, universities were forced to change mascots, due to racism.... Sensitive area and you don't know what organization may target you. It may not be illegal but it goes a long in sensitive areas in this country these days.

I don't think there was anything confusing about what I said; you just might not be secure enough to handle something that could be interpreted as correction. The reaction to a justifiable offense shouldn't become the focus so much that the justifiable offense is ignored.
Being a racist seems more acceptable than trying to do something about racism to some people.
Free speech covers speech within certain contexts. It is not a form of diplomatic immunity from any and all consequences.
