I think yes if they win out. But another loss to UNC moves them to a 2. In that case:

Uva
Zags
UK
UNC/UT

Joe L said even with loss they'll still be #1 due to quality wins and just being good.

It’s really an odd situation. Duke hasn’t lost a full game when the whole team is healthy. At the same time, we’ve looked awful vulnerable with just Zion out... but is that natural? The bench guys who were really doing well earlier this year don’t seem to be doing quite as well. Very odd year. I’m gonna reserve judgment until Zion gets back and we see what happens in the ACC tourney.

Hey, end of day, all that matters is winning the last six games.

Gonzaga is the only team to beat us at full strength

Were you healthy against Gonzaga?

I think Duke has some warts that Zion and RJ have covered up. How many big deficits have you overcame this year. You could just as easily have 7/8 losses.

On the flip side, Jones and White have disappeared. They could come around and make you unbeatable. Thus year, more than most any I can remember, is such a fine line for Duke.

The injuries suck, but everyone deals with them. Uva had two injuries when you beat them. We were up when Cam went down against UVa. Zion was out against us.

They were down by 20? @ UL in the second half?

Yes everyone deals with injuries, but not all injuries are equal in terms of importance per team. UNC fans insist they would have won it all in 2012 if Marshall was healthy. Still a lot of pros on that team, but he made everyone better and covered up a lot of warts.

Take the best player of any team and they will look like death cheese on a bun.

I know Duke has a loaded roster, but losing the centerpiece of the rotation is pretty damn catastrophic.

Duke swept UVA, avenged the Syracuse loss without Zion and has a ton of other Q1 wins.

They're a 1 seed unless they lose out.

I never bought that narrative. We certainly would have had a chance but nothing is guaranteed. I know losing Zion is a huge blow as your most important player, but you still have the most talented starting line up in basketball. Unfortunately for you guys, K has eschewed development of certain guys in favor of reloading the roster each year. There isn’t quality/experienced depth to step up when Zion or Bagleys of the world go down.

What happens if they lose to UNC again in the regular season? That would be two losses to UNC and 3rd in the conference.

There's no doubt they could drop to a 2 seed. It's unlikely but I doubt it happens.

I'm guessing with the loss at VT, Zion will be back sooner than later.

If someone on your Ignore list starts a thread, is the thread not visible?

Oh right, forgot about the Zags, my bad!

And UNC totally would have won with Marshall (I mean, I think they would have.) That kid was a FANTASTIC point guard.

Meh, I mean we went 4-2 against THE toughest stretch in college basketball (@UVA, @UL, vs. UNC, @Syracuse and @Va Tech) and just lost our first true road game after having several chances to win the game. With Zion, we’re probably 6-0 in that stretch or no worse than 5-1 to go along with our other strong wins from this season. K has had more in-game distractions this season than I can ever remember and yet we’re 24-4. Now that this brutal stretch is over, we should rebound nicely.

Since he’s been listed as day to day since last week, yes he will be back sooner than later. He probably could have played last night, but K is being cautious.

I wish Travis was day to day, he was key against UT and that's our next game. Doubt he plays though.

It's crazy, Zion went out due to a shoe, and Travis went out from a teammate falling into him. Shit happens.

Barely at your house. In 2107 you beat us in the regular season and we met in the regional final, what happened?
What does 2017 have to do with this? Anyhow, you're lucky you didn't play UK in the final it wouldn't have been barley. (opinion). We were a far better team in March (fact)

1 or 2. Don't care as long as Duke goes into the tournament without anymore injuries and have Zion back. I hate losses regardless of circumstances, but I am not putting too much weight into last night's loss. I think Duke should have won that game if not for some poor decisions, starting with the decision to limit AOC's minutes in favor of White. Also, Joey Baker gets one minute, that just seems useless. Oh well. On to Miami.

Sounds like to me you're laying the ground work for excuses if you don't get a # 1 seed. But on the real you guys will have to fall asleep at the wheel to not get on the top line.

I think Zion will be back sooner than later, but not as soon as many of you guys think. A Grade 1 MCL sprain is a 2-4 week recovery time. Not day to day.

You noted in 2012 that you beat us early in the season as proof that you’d beat us in the postseason. He just pointed out that in 2017, we lost the regular season but beat you in the postseason. I’ll grant that you guys are better in March under Calipari, but so is Roy. It’s a futile exercise to argue 2012. My guess is those teams would have close to a 5 and 5 split in 10 games played.
