Why does Kentucky Suck?

Why does UK suck?

  • Cal has grown fat and lazy with his lifetime contract

  • Parity across CBB

  • Coach Barnes

  • Players are entitled and don't want to work

  • The SEC is now a Powerhouse too big for one team

  • della has put a Voodoo hex on Cal, or UK or UK players

  • CBB has moved past UK

They don't suck. They have only lost to good teams. They just aren't great.

Maybe, but you aren't a UK fan. Tennessee has a considerably worse loss than they do tbh.

Tennessee is definitely better than Kentucky though.

None of us are CBB players, yet we still post threads on CBB, don't we? UT losing to Colorado is considered a fluke. UK fans and everyone else consider UK a decent team, but not one that has prospects for a deep run.

You may think I'm making fun of UK fans with this thread, but I'm not. I'm just giving them a place to express themselves.

Bc they dont have the number 1 draft pick on their team. Thats when cal shines, when he has the best player. Youd think OT would qualify, and he is a beast, but theres a reason hes not a lottery pick.

Cal, when good, recruited players that fit in his mind the position and how that position is filled. He goes to the portal and gets players pretty much at their peak. We have players from the portal at the 1, 3 and 4 position. I'm not counting Oscar as he was recruited by UK. None of those players fit Cals mold. Yet he tries and play them as if they do. Players that transfer from UK seem to thrive at their new destination. They couldn't in Cals system. Same with the transfers in. They're not thriving in Cals system.

Cal is too stubborn to adapt to his players rather than the players being able to adapt to the system. He has his parts next season. If that season turns out mediocre, then I believe Cal will step down if Mitch has the cajones. I think you'll see a 2010 - 2015 type team.

He needs to look at his days at UMASS and utilize that offense. Optimally, Wallace at the 1 and Reeves at the 2. They would fit that system perfectly.

I wonder why YetAnotherDouchebag hasn’t been around to discuss Kentucky’s dominance lately?

Your depth of analysis is impressive and may be spot on. From the outside observer neither Cal or UK seem to have much urgency and it usually results in less than a peak performance.

You think they're going to lose Oscar (and presumably a few other top players) and get a lot better next year?

Yes I do. Oscar is a freak. He may be back. But at every other position, with the exception of Wallace, yes we get better talent that fits Cal's mold. Thiero and Onyenso will be back with good possibility of Livingston. We'll have shooters/scorers at the 1 through 4 and shot blockers at the 5. And less doubt on who plays.

I have no doubt next year's squad will be better. But that doesn't make it true lol

They do have a great class. If one of the frosh can play like john wall or ad they will be fine. If not who knows

A highly-rated class doesn't mean they'll have anyone who is in the same galaxy as those two. Look at Duke. Three top 5 recruits this year and they're not exactly dominating.

From what I've heard, next year's class isn't terribly strong. We'll see.

Maybe not, but its fairly relative. We have 4 of the top 10, 1,2,6,9,29 and a 4 star in Reed Shephard.
Those players fit very well in Cal's system. Center that can block shots, and get his points from mostly rebounds, a 4 that score, solid pg, 2g. Reed has a very high iq, pass, make really good decisions and can fill it up.

DJ Wagner
Aaron Bradshaw
Justin Edwards
Robert Dillingham
Reed Sheppard

to go w/returning:
Damion Collins
Lance Ware
Ugonna Onyenso
Adou Thiero

So yes... better team next season.

JC, of course nobody asked, but I want you to know I'm here for you. The question was the biggest question on the board and someone needed to work through the bottleneck. We are conference mates and it was the least I could do for you.

Sometimes y'all are like the lion with a splinter in your paw. I just removed the splinter. 🙂

Many of you have been saying that freshman-heavy teams isn't the recipe for success. Now you think it is again? What makes you sure that these freshmen will immediately be great?

Maybe. I can't really comment either way before seeing them. But one thing's for sure...it'll be the least-experienced team they've had in years. Probably even less experienced than the 9-16 team.

And can you imagine what the current team would be without Oscar?

The difference between this year and next years, next years fits Cal's system. This years team doesn't. Like trying to put a square peg in a round hole.

The 9-16 team was still fairly young. COVID pretty much killed any team bonding which Cal uses very well to get young talent to play unselfishly. Not an excuse, just a fact.

When AD played, he was the 4th scorer on that team. He was used as an enforcer around the rim. We have that coming in next year in Bradshaw. Wagner/Dillingham both fit in the guard roles Cal likes. IDK if Edwards plays the 3 or 4, probably both. Livingston or Collins most likely at the 4. The skills on this team are higher than this year's and definitely the ceiling is a lot higher.

Cal can only coach when he has at least 4 lotto picks on his roster.

Go watch his 1996 UMass team. He beat Pitino's juggernaut 1996 Kentucky team second game of the season with that group.

I loved watching Carmello Travieso and Edgar Padilla, that UMass team was a helluva team.

Lifetime contract ruined him. He's been abysmal since that.

Along with a few other things.

Your façade is tiresome. AZ just handed the vols another L and you're more concerned about UK. GMAFB.

alright let me rephrase. He can only win with 4 lotto picks OR the national player of the year/top 2 pick on his roster.

I'm a good multi tasker JC. I have a thread up for UT and UK. You know this thread is just asking a question that you want answered. I provide you with the floor to discuss it and a little gratitude would probably help with the healing process.

You're simply trying to stir shit up and you know it. It's a tired act of yours that anyone can see through. If I ever want your opinion, I'll give it to you.

Like we really need you to give UK fans a place to express ourselves lol. UK fans have never had a problem expressing themselves. If you really wanted to know what we're thinking just visit RR. Your a UK hater and like someone else said, your just trying to stir shit.

I'm not a UK hater. I just love to knock y'all off your high horse occasionally. There is a difference.
