Coach K last year, but it if you run in out over years, who is the best?

Don't be ridiculous, Barnes should really only be considered the greatest CBB mind of the modern era.
I agree based on his history at Texas. How many National Championships was that?

The same as James Naismith. Barnes knows it would be unfair for him to recruit Top 100 prospects, so he doesn't.

You kinda have to admire a man like that.:)

# of guys in the NBA that played for coach ________ over the last 10 years answers the original question.

I think Barnes likes flying under the radar. He will flame out in the NCAA tourney as usual. If he should win a Championship it would put too much pressure on him to win another one. He can just have a good regular season and UT will keep him the rest of his career.

The obvious answers are Cal and K. Roy has done great too, not always getting every top recruit but getting guys who grow into a really strong team. Bennett has found some guys who are relatively unheralded but develop into super players too.

I admire both of you Della.
You have what appears to be a great day going for you. Great days are generally started by wise decisions.

You started off with agreeing with della. (always a smart choice) Then you placed your admiration in a healthy place, you're batting 1000%.:)

James Naismith was a poor coach. Just because he had an idea that it'd be cool to toss balls in peach baskets doesn't make him a great coach.

How in the hell do you judge recruiting ability in an era in which shoe reps are steering all the top players to their respective schools?

Does your school not have a shoe sponsor?

I said great mind and could add visionary. However, you're correct the comparison ends there in the fact Barnes has UT ranked #1 and all.:)

The answer is Coach K, followed somewhat closely by Coach Cal, followed by a large gap, followed by the rest of the pack.

Give me all the dirt on who is cheating so I can have an informed opinion.

Beyond that, it's still a tough call. K and Cal are obviously great recruiters but it's really not hard to recruit to Duke and Kentucky (in part to those gents accomplishments). Same with Indiana, where it is much easier to recruit than it is at Purdue. Hell, this guy was able to convince players to come play for him at IU:

I think the better question is, who are the head coaches at traditionally non-elite programs that you think don't cheat and are recruiting well above average. And no, IU fans, I don't think it's Matt Painter.

Is any regular on here younger than I am? I know @HRTheCard is, but I think all the rest of you are olds. Della is in here late 30's I believe.

I'm 35. Was under the impression that the average here is mid-to-late 30s. Is that within your range for "olds?"

Kentucky never got to pay a player $100,000 in Jewelry to play at Kentucky. UK got a three year probation for $1,000, alleged.
