your closet, most likely......
The whole West Virginia vs North Carolina debate has sent me down a little bit of a rabbit hole, and one of those stops revolved around how conferences will handle conference tournaments going into the future.

It's pretty apparent that despite what the committee says or doesn't say about conference tournaments, the one thing you can say about them is that they are hypocritical, because they absolutely let UNC in because they made a run in the ACC tournament and almost beat Duke, and West Virginia lost to 16 seed (out of 16 teams) Colorado in the 1st Rd of the Big 12 tourney.

So, how will conferences continue to handle their tournaments as we get deeper into this super conference era and NIL era? How do you think conferences should approach their tournaments going forward, or do you think they should just do away with them and let the regular season champs claim the automatic qualifer?

In the case of NC getting in, they did use their run in their tourney as an excuse to let them in. This is completely on the committee as you said.

So if we need to change anything it is just the need for the committee to clarify how much weight they will place on the conference tournaments and be consistent.

This crap of favoring the bluebloods on selection sunday needs to end. The whole world excluding tarheel nation knows that WV deserved the spot.

Used to love them but now think they are absolutely awful and pointless. Only thing of meaning that can happen is a big time player gets hurt.

Nothing worse than those Sunday championships. at the very least they need to do away with all of them.

I personally don't care about the angle in the OP and how the CT's affect seeding, I just think they are pointless games when we are all just waiting for the real games to start this week.

This year I didn't watch a single minute of them and am glad I went that route.

Nothing too crazy over the weekend. But, the games on Thursday were dynamite. Buzzer-beaters with Kentucky/Oklahoma, Ole Miss/Arkansas, and Louisville/Stanford. Entertaining games with Texas/Texas A&M (2 OT), BYU/Iowa State, Marquette/Xavier, Texas Tech/Baylor, and Clemson/SMU. And that was the same day as the whole Cooper Flagg injury drama. Thursday was wild. It felt like the NCAA Tournament had started.

yawn.

Most conferences dropped the tourney decades ago except the old ACC. It determined the ACC champs.

I was opposed to the SEC restarting the SEC Tourney but they really like the money. Same with all the other conferences.

I don't see them dropping them because of the money.

I notice how you only bring up the early games. Makes sense because those are the only games that matter.

I'd like to see them keep the conference tourneys, but allow teams to opt out if they are already confident they will make the big dance. Just limit it to bubble teams and teams who need to run the table to make the tourney. Would make it much more interesting.

There was literally no reason to watch the final 4 of the SEC tournament this year. Just a colassal waste of time for all teams involved. Nothing was going to change and the risk of injury far exceeded the reward of any tiny bump in seeding one of those 4 teams had on the line.

Yeah, the status quo remained unchanged from the tournaments. The teams that were supposed to win ended up winning. So kind of uneventful. But, Thursday was fun, at least.

Mixed feelings on the conference tournaments. I like the tradition of it. And the craziness of bubbles bursting. But, I get the injuries argument and the whole, "What's the point?" argument, as well.
