Tony Bennett retiring...

He admitted it was a double dribble. Also, admitted Jerome was fouled before it
which would have meant you got two free throws to tie the game instead of 3 to take a one point lead. so still no victory

Beyond some kind of health issue, this is kind of a dick move right? Has a bit of a bitch feel to it, again if it's not health related.

He is probably tired of NIL stuff and just wants to enjoy life. So he waited so long to force them to hire his prefered coach in waiting. Possibly screwing the school but helping a friend.
Yeah, I have a feeling this whole NIL/free agency circus is gonna force a lot of established coaches into early retirement. The job was hard enough before everyone had to promote NIL 24/7 and constantly have to re-recruit kids that already play for you every off-season, or pillage the portal when they leave. Jay Wright didn't want anything to do with it, and I can see why. Who would want those headaches when they already have a pile of cash to retire with?

The twist we didn't foresee: Bennett goes to Mossy for therapy and Mossy knew all along.

He can’t afford me anymore. I’m not surprised by him retiring. I’m surprised by the timing.

If he figures the AD wasn't likely to hire one of his assistants, this might be his idea of a succession plan that gives one of the assistants at least a 1-year trial.

Press conference made it sound that way. I’m torn on this. No one is going be able to do it Tony’s way as well as he did. I’d rather bring in an outside guy who implements his own system but has a similar philosophy as Bennett.
