Looks like social media has purged Alex Jones evidently for hate speech. Twitter says he's ok, Apple, Youtube, Facebook, Spotify and Pinterest disagree and have purged his offerings.

He's claiming communist like censorship. I disagree, its businesses not wanting him there.

What do you guys think? Are these legal bans?

The guy is a certified loon and puts out crap for other certified loons who then go and do stupid stuff like shooting up pizza joints looking for child sex slaves. He needs to be censored and shut up. We've got enough problems in this country without him adding to it with just flat out lies meant to work up his mentally deficient audience.

Until this thread, never heard of him. Has to be a loon if he's banned from all those sites.

I didn't know much about him either, until I saw the google news bulletins mentioning him being kicked off the social sites. I went to his website out of curiosity. He claims he's being censored from the internet. If that was the case, his website wouldn't exist.

Would you rather them be assassinated?

That would be censoring them completely.....

Non-state/government run entities have no obligation to uphold the right of others to speak freely. If Rivals (Yahoo) doesn't want me to post here, they have an absolute right to tell me to stfu and gtfo. I obviously have no problem with social media platforms shutting this batshit crazy, delusional, manipulative, asshole down.

For that matter, anybody who listens to him for anything other than pure entertainment value should probably be sterilized for the greater good.

Considering some of the sh*t that is allowed on Youtube and FB, I'd really like to see examples of this "hate speech."

It's highly unlikely that this is unbiased enforcement of terms of service. A scary precedent.

Not really. This isn't mere disagreement with his ideas. He promotes demonstrably untrue things. There is no merit or validity whatsoever to what he says. He is currently being sued by the parents of the Sandy Hook victims for defamation of character and harassment.

He has the right to his beliefs and to speak. He's not entitled to any platform, though. I find it encouraging that so many companies are drawing a firm line (finally).

That all the grieving parents are actors lying about their dead children's existence. It doesn't get much lower than that scum or his supporters.

Did he actually tell people to send them death threats/harass them though? Not that it actually matters. These companies can censor who ever they want.

As scary as inciting lunatics to make death threats against grieving parents of Sandy Hook victims?

Link to him encouraging death threats?

While we're at it, let's censor all the celebrities and radicals who have encouraged violence against Trump.

100% agree is communist like censorship. If they ban him, they’re going to have to ban tons of others both on the right and left. There are plenty of extreme leftists that should be banned if Alex Jones is.

Can’t wait for you to apply this same logic to the extremists on the left. Better not hold my breath...

Not even the same ballpark.
It absolutely is. You just agree with one side of it and not the other. Inciting violence is inciting violence. Glad to know you’re good with people inciting violence as long as it’s against conservatives.

I blame this board for a Louisville ARA ad on my Facebook. They were raising money to send people to charlottesville to protest nazis. I mean #DEFENDCVILLE.

Btw. ARA = anti racist action. Btw they brag about beating up fascists/nazis/proud boys. BTW they have raised $250 of 1500. Btw I like using btw.

Nah, companies are more like dictatorships. Its not a right to post on an owned site, its a privilege to which they can revoke anytime they wish.

Don’t disagree entirely. However, when companies have rules and selectively choose to enforce those rules, it’s a problem.

Not really. Its their rules, if they want to follow or not follow guidelines they put in place it is completely up to them.

Remember there same sex marriage cake controversy? It's not as simple as it's their business they can do whatever.

First Amendment rights.
You obviously do not understand the first amendment if you think it applies to private companies.

Just like I don't have the first amendment right to have my opinions on UK basketball posted on the front page of ESPN, Alex Jones has no first amendment right to have his content hosted on any private platform.

Weird. What about all the uproar over the NFL requiring players to stand during the National Anthem? But yet, there are protesting that all over claiming it infringes on their first amendment rights even though NFL teams are privately owned.

NCAA does this often. Although - most in the state of North Caroline will disagree. It's completely acceptable, but disgusting sometimes.
