Anyone been watching the The Basketball Tournament? Kind of fun to watch, because it's so fast-paced. Games are 36 minutes long, with 9 minute quarters. Final stoppage under 4 minutes brings the Elam Ending into effect, which means you add on 7 points to the team that is leading, and that is the target final. Games always end on winning shots.

Semifinals are tonight... Championship tomorrow. 1 seeded Overseas Elite vs. 3 seeded Golden Eagles, then 2 seeded Team Fredette vs. 7 seeded Eberlein Drive. Who ya got? Hard to pick against Overseas Elite, as they seem to win every year. Not sure how/why Eberlein Drive was seeded so low; they looked stacked. Here are some of the noteworthy names that you might remember. I have bolded the guys that have played in the NBA.

Overseas Elite:
Kyle Fogg, Arizona
DeAndre Kane, Iowa State
Paris Horne, St.John's
Justin Burrell, St.John's
DJ Kennedy, St.John's
Jeremy Pargo, Gonzaga
Johndre Jefferson, South Carolina

Golden Eagles:
Elgin Cook, Oregon
Travis Diener, Marquette
Jerel McNeal, Marquette
Jamil Wilson, Marquette

Maurice Acker, Marquette
Cinmeon Bowers, Auburn

Team Fredette:
Jimmer Fredette, BYU
Jack Cooley, Notre Dame
Brandon Davies, BYU

Devin Williams, West Virginia
Jordon Crawford, Bowling Green

Eberlein Drive:
Lou Amundson, UNLV
Jeremy Evans, West Kentucky
Alex Kirk, New Mexico
James Michael McAdoo, North Carolina

Jerome Randle, California
Donald Sloan, Texas A&M
Christian Watford, Indiana

Ive watched some---Jimmer usually looks like the best on the floor.

I usually just watch the finals.

Overseas Elite going to win again?

I would say Overseas Elite should be the favorite. They have ridiculous continuity. And they're talented, too... I would rank the odds as: 1. Overseas Elite 2. Eberlein Drive 3. Team Fredette 4. Golden Eagles

If Jimmer's defense was ever anywhere close to adequate, he'd be in the league for 10+ years. A lot of these guys could easily be bench players in the league. But often is the case, once you play overseas you're kind of off the NBA Radar. It's a tough choice for these guys because you're making scraps in the G League, but it is a clear road back to the NBA. However, you're losing out on big earnings that can be found in countries like Greece, Italy, and Spain.

My two favorites to win it all both won in the semifinals. I think Eberlein Drive could take this. They have more talented players, IMO. They don't have the continuity like Overseas Elite, but they can play. Should be a good one.

Overseas Elite dominated the Golden Eagles. Kyle Fogg can ball. I wasn't a big fan of the Golden Eagles, as they don't have quality bigs, or many dynamic play-makers... The other semifinal was quality basketball. Lots of high-level players (7 former NBA Players).

Hate the Elam Ending. Just stupid.

I liked it at first. But, not sure I'm crazy about it anymore. I watched 15+ TBT games, and I never saw a single team come back and win. The margin for error for the teams that are losing is very, very thin. I think it would be better if the target score increased from 7 points, to say 11 or 12 points.

Agree. It's a huge advantage. I mean a 7 point game with 4 minutes to play is anybody's game. But the Elam ending really eliminated that. It turns a simple 3 possession game into a 6 or 7 possession game for the tram trailing; And that's IF you get stops. IMO it simply sucks. It takes away any drama whatsoever.

Boeheim's Army has done well in TBT. Two common themes have held them back from getting the F4 or championship. One, is that they usually play the 2-3 zone. They're old guys now who don't extend as well as they did as youngsters, so teams with a lot of shooters can just shoot over them. The shooters are also better than they were in college, obviously. Two, is that the team typically lacks its own 3 point threats. It's a team of mostly Syracuse alum, so they have height but don't shoot exceptionally well. Lots of former NBA and Euroleague talent, though. A lot of people thought the addition of Arinze Onuaku as a legitimate low post threat would help the team get over the hump this year, but true centers struggle to fit into the style of these games.
