Texas Tech

Borden, do you agree with Tech and Iowa St fans that there's a diabolical ref conspiracy to aid KU every year at the expense of all other Big 12 teams?

You would think after we started paying refs to win in football that our cheating advantage would dwindle in hoops. But surprisingly that isn’t the case! We have filled their pockets too long for them not to show gratitude. When we had to stop paying players we knew exactly where to invest! We play chess while everyone else plays checkers.

We good?

In the last decade Texas Tech has a record of 138-29 @ home. Pretty solid. They are 2-8 against Kansas in Lubbock during that span.

Games vs Kansas in Lubbock going back to 2017.

L 72-75
L 57-58
L 62-66
L 72-74
L 79-80

On average a 2 point margin of victory. A call or non-call as the case might be could impact the game.

Oh BTW whatever happened with that whole Kansas investigation? I know Oklahoma St had to sit out a post-season anything ever happen to Kansas?

On the drive, yes I thought that was a foul. KU defender has legal guarding position, yes...But, he has to MAINTAIN that, and he did not. He gets beat, and thus is trailing the ball. Contact, and player loses ball, and falls----Even if minimal---even if in the final seconds---you have to get that. We call that, "A to B"movement. Now I know some will say----"contact wasn't that much. They let them beat on each other in the post...."---Facts, and fair----BUT, as I have always sais---not ALL contact is equal. Contact in the paint, i.e. "the business area", is inevitable, acceptable, for the most part. But on the perimeter----or on a drive? It doesn't take much contact to impact a play. Especially on a player who is dribbling. Yeah maybe the contact was weak. But tell ya what---Go out in the yard...to the gym----have a buddy slighlty hip check you as you go up to shoot----Let me know how that goes..

Are you trying to say that KU has consistently gotten the calls on the road too? So now this isn't just an AFH thing? Just trying to keep my spreadsheet up to date.

Last 9 games in Lubbock:

KU: 158 fouls
Tech: 123

The only game in which Tech had more fouls was in 2020, for obvious reasons.

Someday people will understand that home teams get calls, especially in a raucous environment.

Maybe Self's a pretty damn good coach? Nah, can't be it. It's gotta be the occasional blown call. That's gotta be the reason they dominate the league.

If home teams in raucous environments get calls so why didn't we get the call at the end of the game?

I mean probably helped when the Big 12 scheduled Kansas at Lubbock a few days after New Years. Odd how that worked out. Like getting UT or OU in football during Thanksgiving break.

Bill Self is alright. I watched Bobby Knight take players Self wouldn't recruit and beat Kansas.

Yeah, let's ignore the foul disparity across a decade because they may have missed one call. Who can argue with that logic?

Also very sound logic regarding Bill Self. I'll just point out that Self won as many tourney games in one season at Tulsa as Knight in 7 years at Texas Tech. 😂

Ummmm, no. What amazes me is, is where the official is: Well below the FT line. As the "CC", he should be FT line extended. If he IS, he see's that; he never saw it. Which leads to.....

Why is the lead official, so far down the floor? As the lead in a pressing situation, you only want to go as deep as the furthest players take you. Everyone was in the b/c. So at worse, he should have been at HC. If he is, maybe he gets that.

RThat no call is 100% on the centyer("C") official.

Edit: Watched again. Saw where to players sprinted down the floor, so the lead official has to officiate that. So he's off the hook. BUt the center("C")---Yikes. Never see's it. And he doesn't b/c of where he is. Really, really bad position.
