St John's is back

Solid win for St. Johns. Pat has Georgetown going in the right direction as well. They're getting there. Great job thus far by Mullins. They should be undefeated.

Aren't they the last non-ACC team to win in Cameron? I wanna say it was when Battier, Dunleavy, Boozer, Williams, and Duhon were there.

Yes and this season, they are good enough to end the streak

St.John's would be an interesting team to play in the tournament. They play one forward and four guards - so there's likely to be mismatches on both sides of the court. One thing they do really well, is shoot. Collectively, St.John's shoots north of 40% from 3; they're ranked 12th in country in 3-point shooting. Ponds is having another stellar season. Probably be a battle between Ponds and Markus Howard for Big East POY.

Speaking of stats. What is pretty cool is seeing a player on your team listed twice on ESP5N's front page of stats. Tacko Fall FTW.

Relax on this "back" stuff. Nice wins for St John's vs. Marquette and GTown but their overall strength of schedule is still woeful at #270 (per KenPom). Check out their non-conference schedule, WOOF:

Loyola-Maryland (#297 KenPom)
Bowling Green (#151 KenPom)
Rutgers (#115 KenPom)
Cal (#207 KenPom)
VCU (#53 KenPom)
Maryland Eastern Shore (#349 KenPom)
Georgia Tech (#85 KenPom)
Mount St. Mary's (#324 KenPom)
Princeton (#176 KenPom)
Wagner (#216 KenPom)
St. Francis Brooklyn (#276 KenPom)
Sacred Heart (#269 KenPom)

Does UCF turn the ball over multiple times a game trying to feed the ball inside to Tacko Fall? I mean, 80 freaking percent from the floor? That deserves more than 6 shots per game.

I actually had to look it up because the 3 previous years with Tacko we had to have averaged 18-20 Turn Overs a game. This year we are down to 11.5 TO pg which is good enough for Top 30th.

Tacko does open up the 3 point shot. UCF is now shooting 37.5% behind the arch which is Top 50th.

The only draw back of Tacko is that he shoots 28% behind the free throw line.

4-1 against the top 100, though. That's not bad. I don't think anyone is expecting a Final Four from this team, but I wouldn't be surprised if they win a game or two in the tournament.

St. John's choked that game away last night in impressive fashion. Ponds missed everything down the stretch and other than him this team sure does take a lot of bad shots. Have not been impressed with Herron, seems like for everything good he does he does something bad to even it out.

Almost a repeat of the Seton Hall game. I think the Johnnies were up by 10 with a little over 6 minutes left in the Seton Hall game. Too much ISO in the the closing minutes - over dribbling, few passes, bad shots. Not sure why they self-destruct like that.

and nearly the Georgetown game as well, they tried to give that one away down the stretch.

Close. It was the year before Duhon arrived, '99-'00. Chris Carrawell and Nate James started. Dunleavy was the 6th man.
