Most surprising to me:
  • The two time defending champs have just one road win in 5 years over a ranked opponent?
  • Duke also with one but also have just played 5 games against ranked teams?
  • Maryland as high on the list as they are?
  • Iowa State just 3-22? They've been good. Must be Hilton Magic.
  • IU just 2-15...nah, never mind. That's very believable

Wow, I thought KU and unc were much better than that and I thought UK was much worse, but then again, Cal seemed to find ways to win games when nobody thought he could. It was the easy opponents he struggled with.

So much money, so little results. Tough situation. He's built facilities here for youth, he's from here, bled here.

So did King Willie Herenton. They had to oust him. It might be the same with Penny. Going to be an interesting season.

Calipari should leave Arkansas and go back to Memphis. They'd (decision makers) toss Penny right out a window.

*Calipari will retire (sooner than latter) at Arkansas. Then off to some admin job. Can't see him as a talking head on a network.

*neutal sites matter. Is there any value to road wins.?

More than anything, it’s hard to believe the ACC has been so bad for this long now. Duke’s unwillingness to play road games will always be what it is, but it’s pretty sad they haven’t accumulated +\- 12 or so by force.

7 games is obviously too small of a sample size, but it's just more proof of how good a coach Sampson is. Indiana might not be a laughing stock if he actually didn't get fired/ get a show clause there.

Anyone else completely not shocked to see just how scared Duke is to go on the road and play good teams? Beta school if ever there was one.

...and this was during his sucky years.

It might be more interesting if it were road records against teams that won a game in the NCAA Tournament. We've beaten two teams in the past 3 seasons that were unranked and made it to the Final Four - UNC in '22 and NC State in '24.

Also, very few ACC teams have been ranked these past 5 seasons. In 2022 & 2024, we had a combined 1 road against in ACC play against a ranked opponent. And yet, the ACC had 3 of the final 8 teams in both 2022 & 2024 (ACC went 12-3 against the Big 12 this past season). Also, only 11 schools from power conferences have made it to the Final Four since COVID, and the ACC is responsible for 4 of those schools.

... How has no one mentioned UConn being 1-12? That's wild. They've been dominant on the neutral court, though. Only loss in the past two years, IIRC, was the Big East Semifinal to Marquette.

hasn't stopped UNC from playing 13 of these games. #micdrop

I think the OP brought up the UConn thing. Blew my mind.

I expected KU to be at the top. Bill Self is really good in the regular season (not saying he isn't good in the Tournament just that he's very very good in the regular season). Thought UK would be pretty bad as awful as the last 5 years have been.

Your obsession is showing...again

I know. I talk a lot about UConn, Duke, Maryland and Iowa State. I'm working on it.
Good, focus more on those four (and heck even your team) and less on IU and you just might become a happier person. But good luck with that.
