So Calipari’s son enters the transfer portal....

If I was Brad's mom I would be pissed. Sleeping with the coach and he still can't get playing time.
If only Calipari promised playing time.

“I had my phone off earlier. When I turned it on, it was like, what in the world?! Everyone was asking about [Brad],” he said. “Just so everyone knows, Brad and I had talked earlier about exploring his options – not a decision to leave but about keeping his options open to play more.”

“We talked about the transfer portal and putting his name out there, He didn’t think – nor did I – that putting his name out there would go crazy. We honestly didn’t think anyone would notice. But at the end of the day, I want my son to be happy.”

“It’s hard to get minutes at Kentucky — EVEN IF YOU’RE MY SON. Brad is going to take his time with his decision and weigh all options,” he said. “No matter what he does, he has my full support. If he decides to leave, I know our fans will continue to root for him. And if he decides to come back, I’ll soak in every moment to coach my son."

“I love all my players – I just love Brad a little more.”

As a UK fan, it sucks he loves his son more than our players. Sons first amiritre? o_O

Smart move......... get some time at UK and then go to some place like UT martin and get some actual good coaching for a change...

Am I doing this right.?. you UL and KU fans let me know if I'm on the right track? lol

but really if you want to become a coach...... get a few years with dad... go some where else and see how they do it while also getting some actual time on the court is smart. I was hoping he'd stay to keep the Cal to the NBA rumors away for 2 more years though....

Good one, when you have a charismatic HOF coach, NBA rumors will never go away.

I’m waiting on the nba rumors, combined with cal is a terrible father. He loves cheating so much he cheats his own son out of minutes, forcing him to transfer.

For a second, let's just imagine Brad on a team like Robert Morris. I'd almost be willing to give up one season, just for that storyline.

I'm fairly certain he has the largest calves for someone who can't jump.

Is it calf or calves? o_O

Kid does have some tree trunk legs, even since he was like 10. Weird genetics, I guess.

I hope he ends up going to a low major where he can play. It would be fun to follow.

People think he’s walk on talent. He’s not. He’s a walk on because his dad makes $8M a year. That $8M also paid and still pays for private trainers. He had legit offers out of HS, and played some legit minutes in a few games years ago when we were thin on guards.

Dwight Perry was our all time leader in this category. Brad couldn't hold Dwight's jock.

Agreed. Perry was the Micheal Jordan of bench control. A true first ballot HOF inductee.

With that talent I'm surprised he hasn't been hired by a college football coach to keep the staff off of the field.

I don't see why this is such a big deal. Cal has never been trying to say that he would take care of anyone for the rest of their life. There’s no socialism with Cal.

Good luck to Brad. I hope he lands somewhere and gets playing time.

You're correct, he was always 'teach you how to fish model', instead buying it for you.

Bolden is set for life right? Wasn't that what his family said? I never knew why Duke wanted Bolden so much. I have a guess now, and I'm thankful. It really worked out great for both sides.

With that said, I'm sure Calipari (Brad) is set for life. The other players will have to earn it. Lifetime scholarships and top notch connections work great for players. They get pride in earning the wealth. It gives them every opportunity without just giving them handouts. Due to a cumulative collection of well over a billion dollars worth of contracts, it seems to be working.

It'd be great if more teams took the approach, but sales is sales.
