So, about Kentucky...

Both fan bases need to take a step back and see it for what it is. One game in the beginning of November.

Was fun for Duke fans, not so much for Kentucky fans. But will not be the determining factor for either team.
You're right, but at the moment it feels pretty satisfying.

I agree that it's unlikely that Duke will routinely be that hot, but I'm not sure I follow with the barn reference. Was that being said a lot?
Shooting was supposed to be a weakness for Duke, but the net barely moved on the fitty that they hit last night.

People can say all sorts of things like both these teams will look totally different in March but given that Duke's talent has the bigger ceiling, wouldn't the gap be just as wide if not wider during the NCAAT?

I'm still trying to process what I saw last night. My mouth is still hanging open.

Last nights game reminds me of the Kentucky and Kansas game from four years ago, Kansas wasn’t as bad as they looked, they just ran into a buzz saw.

This exactly. They met again and were a foot out of bounds on a 3 that went in from being a 3 point game under 2 minutes in the championship.
Duke isn’t that good, Kentucky isn’t that bad. Just the perfect storm.

You're talking about the 11-12 KU-UK games. His post was about the 14-15 KU-UK game. We never played them a 2nd time in that 2015 season.

I'm usually one to try and be optimistic, but I have pretty low expectations for the rest of the season. We will probably get killed by UNC and Kansas. Originally thought we would only drop one of the three of UNC/KU/Duke.

UK has 1 great college player who really isn't a NBA guy in Reid. PJ is good. KJ is super athletic and a hustler. Herro can shoot but isn't a all conference player and the 2 freshmen PG's are good but not great. There really is not a stud NBA prospect on UK and their back court are freshman. Probably 8-10 losses and a top 4 seed.

Agree. And we won’t know much more about Duke for awhile. Their schedule sucks.
They do have a trip to Maui. Auburn is likely not as good as they will be ranked. But they will be in the top 10 when they play. Then if Duke gets by them, then they will play Gonzaga. I know it's not true road games against Wofford and Elon, but they will have competition.

I wouldn't get too down. Our boys came out of the gate hitting from deep, something I don't think Cal and crew were prepared for. I wasn't. You got punched hard and never recovered.
Cal knows what he's doing, and the team will get better.

Well played. But Carolina actually does play a doozy of a non-con. I actually forgot about Maui for you guys.

You play all 3, loaded schedule. Well non conference wise.

But, but, road games!

Yeah, why are people ignoring Maui? It's a pretty good field this year.

There's plenty of teams that would have kept it within 30. I can't believe I'm typing that. Lost by 30 plus
And Ratface called the dogs off with 10 mins to go, even the TV analyst heard him say Slow it down.
Screw Ratface! But he did show class and gained some respect from me. Easily could have been 40+

Doesn't it usually take UK a month or so to get its footing? With the exception of maybe the almost undefeated team and the AD Natty team? I think even the John Wall team almost lost to some random team early on. I wouldn't get too worked up yet.

There wasn’t anyone beating Duke last night.

Yup. Their A game is far and away better than anyone's in the country. Would have helped if UK had a coach that knows how up make changes when things aren't working.

Jesus. I could pull up about 50 posts right now from Kentucky fans claiming that Duke couldn't shoot.

For the record I still have questions about it. Last night they were unreal. But I doubt Zion and Barrett shoot 35% from deep. Reddish has always been streaky.

Too early to say whose A game is best. Or will be best. Just like it was too early for boasting and betting in August.

It's one very impressive game. Reminded me a little of how KU pounced on UNC in 08. KU weren't as dominant as they appeared that night (first half anyway) and UNC weren't as bad as they appeared.

Disagree. If they are hitting their shots and playing defense like they did (though I think a part of that was UK shitting down their leg most of the game) they aren't gonna lose. They have arguably the three most talented players in the country. Actually have a point guard. I still have major questions at center but if Zion plays there it answers that.
I'm not saying 40-0 or other stuff because that's stupid, but I doubt there is a team who's A game is close to that.

The only time duke loses this season will be the games where they don't hit threes. I can't imagine any team, including mid majors, defending duke any worse than UK did. UK's guys never rotated and never got a hand up. They mailed it in.
But, if Duke only makes 2 or 3 threes, they can be beaten, but it will have to be by a team that is really talented and is en fuego from 3 point range.

Sure it's just 1 game but I think Kentucky has clear issues, the defense will be cleaned up but it lacks a true rim protector and will probably be a bit worse than prior defenses. Lack of shooting is also a issue outside of herro. They'll be good, but top 5/final 4 good? I have my doubts

I'm a Ky. Fan and I think your exactly right.. Not sold on any of these point guards and still think outside shooting will be a problem a lot of nights.

The outlier for me that I think UK (Cal) will fix, was Kentucky kinda of panicked. When Duke opened with their flury, it seemed as if UK started rushing everything. Took bad, quick shots. In other words, they panicked. And by the time they got their feet about them, it was to late. It was odd to see a UK team kinda of, well, wilt under pressure. No counter punch. Cal's better teams, hell, even his not so better teams, just fought man. Down 12...down 10. 20 or 25...they fought. And you knew they were coming(back). Not this team. Hate to use this word, but man it was as if they quit. Cal IMO will fix that. I'm not a rah-rah Cal guy, but one thing I respect about him and his teams, is their fight. So I think that gets fixed.

Kentucky still has the abiltiy to be really good. Elite good. Last night was an example of nothing going right for one team, and the other hitting on all cylinders. With that being said----

Duke is scary, scary good.
