In a weird year in a weird season, after the game last night I saw UK 1-2 and it got me thinking I bet that’s the first time cal has been below .500 since he was at Memphis.

Usually even if you don’t have an elite team, you play enough cupcakes to boost your win total.

I know Roy probably slipped below .500 last year but I wonder how long it’s been for guys like k, self, izzo. And who has/had the longest streak.

Not a shot a Cal or UK. Y’all have played a tough schedule early and 3 games isn’t much of a sample size regardless. Just thought about it when I seen it, like dam I bet UK hasn’t been under .500 at any point during the season in a decade at least.

It sucks as a UK fan, but not for reasons you would think. Cal is using this year to justify his pathetic home game scheduling. Wouldn't be surprised if it somehow gets worse in the future years.

What do you mean?

For many years our only high profile non con games have always been at neutral sites. After losing to Richmond he mocked fans saying this is why they schedule the way they do.

Either load it with cupcakes or lose.

Ah, well he is right. If you bring in strong competition, you run the risk of getting beat.

Finished below .500? Or spent any time below .500 during the year?

With the Champions Classic first most years, I assume Kansas, Kentucky, Duke, Michigan State have all started 0-1 recently.

Hell, some conferences played conference games first last year. So lots of teams started 0-1.

Yea good point I totally forgot the CC used to be the first game. Dumb thread dumber op

I was thinking in a normal year teams usually play a couple cupcakes before even going to like Maui or Atlantis.

I agree. The schedule has been tougher the past few years and we have lost several of those games. As a fan, I find it's easier to accept losing to teams like UCLA, Kansas, Duke, Michigan St, UNC, Texas, or any number of P5 teams than it is to lose to Evansville, Richmond, Robert Morris, etc ...

I just think it's a bad look to tell fans it's their fault they lost because they have such a tough schedule due to fans complaining about a weak schedule when you are losing to the teams I mentioned.

We've lost four games in the Champions Classic. But, all of those losses were preceded by a season-opening victory. In the 1999-2000 season, we did start out 0-2, however, after dropping back-to-back games to Stanford and UConn in the Coaches vs. Cancer Challenge. K hasn't had a losing season since Jay Bilas was a freshmen, way back in '83.

Cal has been under .500 just once(UK): 2018-19: Lost season opener to Duke.

He mocked fans for not wanting to play scrubs? As if those games make a team better?

Loved his sermon at halftime btw. Such an attention whore.

Fan is short for fanatic. Their desires are usually unrealistic. Fans want you to bring in the top 5 teams, but they also want to win everything.

I think one of the cool things about CBB is the fact a peewee team on a given day knock off a power team. You can't just take the game for granted. However, the season isn't a sprint, more like a Marathon, one or two early losses don't define the season. Of course, it sucks when your team is the one getting beat by a peewee.

2020 is a wash, and also-ran, and asterisk.....sports included.

Not that I am disagreeing with you, but if we get through March, whoever cuts down the nets is gonna feel a whole lot different than you and I.

2020 and Gonzaga looks unstoppable. Sounds about right.
