I realize that who will actually end up leaving school for the NBA will have the biggest effect on the preseason rankings, but as it stands now, how would you rank teams for next year?

We won’t be in the top 5 next year but I am going to go ahead and say we drop at least two teams in the top 5 next year. Go Wolfpack!

Without Jerome and Hunter, UVA not top 4.

Yeah definitely not. I figured both of those guys would be gone. Hunter is a lottery pick and Jerome's stock won't get any higher than it is now. The big question mark is Guy. His stock is probably the highest it'll be but his size really limits his potential. If we lose him, it could be a pretty tough year, although we have a lot of promising guys on the bench this year. If he comes back, I think we're a solid tourney team in the 5-7 seed range.

I don't buy duke as top 5. Jones, Bolden, white, delaurier and a so-so recruiting class? Not top 5.
Then who? Not the strongest year on College B-Ball next year. Maybe Auburn? Oregon will be solid. Just not a lot of clear great teams.

You guys have a successful system and Bennett knows how to form a team into that system. Definitely wouldn't drop them that far back.

We were a 5 seed in 2017 after losing Brogdon, Gill, Tobey etc. I think that range is possible. It would not surprise me if we're in the 3-4 range though. I'd be pretty surprised if we're in contention for a 1 seed next year. It may actually be nice to play without that kind of pressure lol.

Enjoy your one horse pony show. You will be back to reality this year.

I'll tell coach Barnes you were only kidding. I'd hate if he took a switch to y'all again this year. Y'all's welts haven't even had proper time to heal yet.:)

Thanks Della. I need all the help I can get. Knowing Phil Fulmer has not helped.

Have fun sinking back to the levels of Missouri and ole miss Della. I’m sure you were missed at the bottom
I believe I'm being addressed by a Tennessee victim. It is always more fun to be picked 13th in the conference and kick the crap out of UK.:D

Don’t worry Louisville won’t be seeing any top five lists either. You should have started a top 15-25 thread to include Tennessee and Louisville

Nothing like another thread getting destroyed by a Kentucky "fan." Keep up the good work

Other than Michigan State, no one clearly stands out to me.

1. Michigan State
2. Duke
3. Auburn
4. Kentucky
5. Oregon

-Gonzaga could be really good if they had a capable point guard. Crandall and Perkins graduate and either have to rely on a 3-star freshmen, Joel Ayayi, or a grad transfer. Thinking Few will land a solid grad transfer, perhaps a combo guard.

-Tennessee is probably in the top 5 if Grant Williams returns.

-Virginia will still be solid assuming Guy and Diakite return. Probably not top 5, but I could see them in the top 10.

-UNC could be dangerous if they land Cole Anthony, Rayjon Tucker and/or Christian Keeling

-Villanova, Arizona, and Florida are bringing in solid recruiting classes. Maybe some of those guys catch fire.

Very, very likely that Duke lands Matthew Hurt and Cassius Stanley, which would give them the #1 recruiting class. I certainly don't think this team will have a ceiling anywhere close to the 2019 team. But, I'd be surprised if they're not in the top 5 to start. It's a top 5 not necessarily because they're overly-talented, but more so because college basketball appears to be slightly down next year.

I think Hurt is lock for you guys. Duke will need to play more team ball offensively this year, which is probably a good thing.

I am excited about Whitney, Brooks, Maxey and Allen. Those guys are scorers. I can see Cal going small ball a lot with EJ and or Richards at the post. They should be a fun team to watch.

If we lose dok, Dotson, Grimes, no de Sousa, and fail to land all our targets.....yikes. Could have another 9-10 loss yr. This yr felt like we lost every other game. Least enjoyable group to watch hands down.....irregardless of the record. No chemistry whatsoever and a collection of underachievers.

Our front court is a big ol fat question mark. There’s gotta be 5 teams with a better roster on paper than UK.

Michigan St (assuming Winston stays) is my pre-season #1 since Jerome/Hunter are bouncing to the draft for Virginia. MSU is combining all their talent with experience. McQuaid was a glue guy, his shoes will need to be filled but otherwise they look good.

Duke is basically a lock for Matt Hurt. I think we’ll also end up with Cassius Stanley. Freshmen-heavy again which can be unpredictable but there’s gonna be tons of depth to pick from. I can’t imagine Duke not cracking the top 5.

I can’t even compile the rest of the top 5. I don’t even know who I’d pick. Feels like there’s 10 teams who are going to be so-so. I guess we’ll see.

Lol y’all ain’t too 5 either muchacho. Your front court is ass.
Refer to the majority of the lists ITT

Do you want to avi bet who is higher in the pre season poll?

Edit: pre season or final poll. Makes no difference.

These days? Don't you mean these years? We have been kicking y'all's ass regularly.:D
How soon Della forgets the annual beat down Kentucky has put on Tennessee. Things will return to normal this year. Of course Kentucky will always go deeper in the NCAA tourney than Tennessee.

What KL doesn't understand is that Barnes has led UT to victories over UK regularly since he got here. Furthermore, Barnes has accomplished this feat with low level recruits. Barnes is getting better recruits and thus UK's efforts to hang with the Vols will become a more daunting proposition for the Blue.
