What starting 5 would you pick? Anybody in college basketball, but the 5 starters need to average a combined 60 points per game, or less.

I think I know which 5 I'm going to pick, but I'll wait a day before revealing my answer.

Dajuan Harris, 7.4 ppg
Jaime Jaquez, 16.3 ppg
Reece Beekman, 10.0 ppg
Brandon Miller, 18.8 ppg
Dereck Lively, 4.4 ppg

I’m 0.4 points away from swapping Jamarion Sharp for Lively

Well done! That's a really solid 5-man starting lineup.

You have two of the guys I'm likely to pick. And two others are names under consideration.

It’s pretty difficult. I feel good about it, some good defense while Lively is really the only total non-threat on offense

2 All-Americans, 2 defensive specialists (though Beekman can score more; he just needs a higher usage rate), and a floor general in Harris who makes the right passes and does an excellent job at not being sped up by pressure. I like it.

Here's my 5-man starting lineup:

Tyler Kolek, Marquette, 11.3
Jaylen Clark, UCLA, 13.1
Brandon Miller, Alabama 18.8
Jarace Walker, Houston 11.8
Dereck Lively, Duke 4.7
Total: 59.7 ppg

Feel like Kolek is going under the radar a little bit. He has an argument for being the best point guard in the nation. I might put him at #3 behind Jalen Pickett and Kendric Davis. Averaging close to 8 assists per game, shooting percentages have gone way up. Has a 3.3 Ast/TO Ratio, which is 2nd in the nation.

Clark ain't the offensive liability he used to be. He can score, and he's one of the most dynamic defenders in the country.

Brandon Miller is the superstar on the team. Great shot at being 1st Team All-American

Jarace Walker has averaged 20 ppg in his last 4 games. Sure-fire 1st Round pick. Big, physical, and agile. Can defend. He's also shooting north of 42% from 3.

Lively is the defensive specialist. Won't need to draw any calls for him, but he can get lobs and putback dunks. And obviously protect the rim.

Alright, here is a B1G edition and reasoning:

PG - Jalen Pickett 17.3 - averages 7 rebounds and 7 assists as well. Would be deadly in a 2 man game with Edey
SG - Trey Galloway 7.5 - tough defender who shoots 50% from three
SF - Joey Baker - 5.2 - former top 50 guy currently being underutilized by Juwan. Shoots 43.1% from three. He was my last pick. I wanted Paul Mulcahy but he pushes me over 60 points.
PF - Mason Gillis - 6.5 Glue guy who also shoots 40% from three and recently made 9 in one game
C - Zach Edey 22.4 - Damn near impossible to stop 1 on 1 and a willing passer. Best offensive rebounder in the country. On D, he can be manipulated in space but is a great rim protector

This team will struggle to defend really good teams but good luck trying to stop them. Spread the floor and put Pickett and Edey in a 2 man game where both are excellent finishers/passers and surround them with very good shooters. Try to zone them and they will shoot you out of it or Edey will get so many putbacks, you will give up.

Defensively, Baker and Edey are guys you can go at but Pickett, Galloway and Gillis will not be afraid to body you up and make it difficult to get into your offense. Matt Painter will coach them to run guys off the 3P line but you won't challenge Edey in the middle (no one really does) so you better be making your midrange jumpers or turning us over and getting out in transition.

Going with Edey on your team would be tough, just because you're forced to take some low usage players. Here's who I'd put him with:

Paul Mulcahy, Rutgers, 9.3 ppg (thought about Braden Smith, but 2
Issac McKneely, Virginia, 6.6 ppg
Seth Lundy, Penn State, 14.8 ppg
Kyle Bowen, Saint Mary's, 5.7 ppg
Zach Edey, Purdue, 22.4 ppg
Total PPG: 58.8

Bowen is one of the best defenders in the country + he shoots 43% from 3. Lundy is another 3 & D guy. Mulcahy running the point, and McKneely at the 2; both guys shoot north of 40%, as well. That team would space the crap out of teams.

ACC Edition
Chase Hunter, Clemson, 14.1
Isaac McKneely, Virginia, 6.6
Mark Mitchell, Duke, 8.8
Justyn Mutts, Virginia Tech, 12.9
Armando Bacot, UNC, 17.5

Another solid option would be swapping out Chase Hunter/Armando Bacot for Isaiah Wong/Jesse Edwards.

Thank you. As I was typing that, I wondered how long it would take for someone to respond with that exact response. My faith in this board is restored.
Thanks, I'm never one to turn down the low hanging fruit.

That said, I really like your freshman back court, especially Braden Smith. Put him on my 3rd team freshman AA team in the other thread.

A Big 12 Team:

Joseph Yesefu / 3.5
Tyrese Hunter / 10.1
Keyontae Johnson / 18.1
Jalen Wilson / 20.7
Moussa Cisse / 7.3

59.7 ppg

Tyler Kolek 11.5
Fletcher Loyer 12.4
Baylor Scheierman 13.0
Matthew Mayer 11.9
Donovan Clingan 7.6

56.4
