Offseason Potpourri Thread

I know too many good pitbull owners to go all-in against them, but it was a deal-breaker for us when we were looking for a mixed-breed a couple years ago.
I like the idea of cloning body parts that would be available for transplant. For starters, why not O± blood?
Of all places, SLC has been one of the more progressive places wrt homelessness: Give homes to the homeless. Now, from what I understand, this "surprisingly simple" solution is not surprisingly not perfect nor truly simple, but it represents a start. It bears noting that as far as states and cities go, Utah and SLC numbers are way, way smaller than some other larger, more economically depressed cities, so it's not a one-size-fits-all solution, but its success flies in the face of all the harsh rhetoric about being tough on the poor, etc and shows that so-called "handouts" can be the financially wise thing to do for the greater good sometimes.

He's my dude.... Wife won't allow him in the bed. BUT.........He'll jump in bed after the wife is asleep. Like he knows she's sleeping. Funny shit. And in the morning? He's in his bed. Just funny shit. We bought him off a friend. His daughter was scared of him,so he had to get rid of him. He had a broken leg when we got him as a pup. About two weeks after the cast came off,I was chasing him around the house with a play horse; you know, one of those horse heads on a stick........Anyways, he's going about Mach 1. Jumps off the couch, and next thing I hear is a blood curling scream......Im like god damn. I call the vet-------its like 11 at night. She's like, "bring him in. But there is a $200 after hours fee". I'm like---------Ummmm, what time you open in the morning?

My son had a black and tan dachshund. His name was Rudy and he would chase a tennis ball until he legs quit working. He died at 17.
Why is it that little dogs live well into their teens? I’ve had 3 Rotties, and the 2 that passed didn’t live past 10. Doesn’t seem fair.
Overbreeding has caused Rotties to have weak bones. People also seems to want the biggest Rott they can find, so they over feed them, which is also bad on their hips.
It does suck though, Rotties are so damn wonderful but they don’t live very long. My last few I’ve gotten have been pure German bread. They seem to live about 13-15 years, even that isn’t long enough for me.
My girl is 100% German as well. Mother and father were imported by the breeder. My previous 2 were American Rottys. I agree with the over breeding, and brittle bones. Seems like osteoporosis is extremely common in Rottys (my last girl passed due to that). My current girl is lean, 75lbs. I want to be able to feel her ribs, but not see them. She exercises daily, and is a pure athlete. If I can get 13 years out of her, it’ll be amazing. Agree though, even that isn’t long enough.
Yea, I know. Just doesn’t seam right. Rottweiler is the only breed for me. Sucks I only get 8-12 years out of each companion.
It’s nice to see a responsible Rottweiler owner. I breed & train them for a living. Mostly train pups, but I do a background check on all people I work for.
You wouldn’t believe the people that get offended when I require a background check.
I have a year old rescue male I’m working with now. He has food allergies & his owners ignored them. He has bit & scratched his skin raw. It was really sad to see. Bad thing is, my kids get really attached & it’s hard to adopt them out after working with them.
Thank you, I take a lot of pride in my girl. She’s a strong member of our family. It’s the only breed I’ll ever have. Understand what you mean about the kids. Willa sleeps in my oldest son’s bed almost every night. They’re inseparable.
That’s absolutely amazing you breed and train Rottweilers. Incredible who you meet on forums.
Would it be alright if I pm’ed you regarding a few training tips?
I can give you a few now, though...
1. ALways let her THINK she has won argument. Works out better that way,
2. Mute the TV when she is talking. Makes it appear as if you are actually listening..
3.Don't fart in bed. Bad, bad move.
4. Hair always looks nice. NEVER sway from that.
5. When she comes back from grocery store and ask--"Do you want the receipt"? SAY NO. It's best to check account on line and get pissed when she ain't around. My wife buys the stupidest shit ever.

Any time, be glad to give any assistance I can. I’ve gotten more into the rescue & rehabilitation of them the last few years. I still train pups for people but it has to be a hands on training. As you know, a Rottweiler will become VERY attached to their alpha.The most I will breed a female is twice.Thank you, I take a lot of pride in my girl. She’s a strong member of our family. Our male is 1 1/2 & goes everywhere & does everything with my son. He will lay by the front door all day waiting for him to come home from school. Their bond is amazing to sit back & watch.
The male I just rescued is a really good dog. His owners wouldn’t spend the money on the type of food he needed, they just kept feeding him some cheap brand not realizing how allergic to wheat & soy he is.
His skin & fur was in awful shape. My 16 year old daughter really took him under her wing. She’s been amazing with him & now wants to become a veterinarian.
Smaller animals generally live longer than larger animals. Obviously there are exceptions.
- no cloning, too many people as it stands
- pitbulls are great dogs, not for everybody
- sucks, not sure how to fix. There has to be a way to help people get back on their feet (if they want to)
That’s so awesome. We have the same bonds with our girl and our children, and I absolutely love to sit back and watch it. At the end of the day though, like you said, she is fiercely loyal to me (family alpha), and it’s one of the things I love most about her.
