It’s a school set up by Jerry Falwell Sr to further indoctrinate people into the moral majority. But it’s “Not-For-Profit” and has an endowment of like $2B (because of course it does) and has had a bunch of scandals surrounding Jerry Falwell jr siphoning those endowment funds to friends.
Also there’s just other scandals with the Falwells that highlight some religious hypocrisy but I won’t get into that. At the end of the day, it’s a NFP college that’s interested in raising money and not really interested in operating as a college.

It makes so much sense now. Painter knew his team didn’t have what it takes to win it all and decided it would be better not to build on this lead. Kudos to Illinois for recognizing what Painter was doing and not letting him get away with it by passing them.
