****Official B1G In-Season Thread****

I guess Duke fans were correct when they told us he was absolute trash last off-season
He actually made some pretty key shots for us Vs Rutgers and MSU.

He isn’t good but has pretty much been about as serviceable as expected

Both of those were just brutal tho.

That's nuts. And indicative of the grind that is B1G play. I'm not convinced a 20 game league schedule is beneficial to B1G teams.
I can see it either way. It's definitely more of a grind and adds to the schedule but it can wear a team down. I do see playing a stronger out of conference schedule maybe even during the conference schedule to help the tournament teams not get so locked in on the B1G style of play

I’d rather play 18 conference games. But we don’t schedule non con like pussies like some programs.

That’s just…ummm…goddammit…shit! That’s ****ing poetic man!
It's really weird to me the obsession with conference titles. It's legit the only thing yall care about. I guess I would too if I had Purdue's track record in the tournament. LOL

So, to break it down:

Purdue - 1
Iowa - as high as 2, as low as 7
Indiana - 2 to 9
Michigan - 2 to 8
Illinois - 2 to 9
Northwestern - 2 to 9
Maryland - 2 to 8
MSU - 3 to 9
Rutgers - 5 to 9
PSU - 10 to 12
Nebraska - 10 to 12
Wisky - 10 to 12
OSU - 13
Minny - 14
I haven't looked at the remaining games in depth. What's the likely outcome if you had to guess?

they need to figure out the scheduling. you'll just see teams go through stretches where they're playing far too many games in like a 12 day stretch, with plenty of road games thrown in there.

Agreed. A 20 game league and then the conference tournament I think would wear us down too much on whole. A tougher conference grind could be part of the blame for the lack of success in the tournament over the years. B1G is better top to bottom on average than most conferences.

And it's going to get worse when we add USC and UCLA.

If IU is locked into a four seed I won't be very happy. LOL. If we would win our first game no way we would beat Purdue for a third time in one year. But I guess maybe it gives us more rest for the tournament? Seems we're looking at a four/five seed for the NCAA Tournament regardless, so maybe more rest is better. Ha.

Im in the camp of not giving two shits about the conference tournament. IU was gassed last year playing st marys.

I do and I don't. These are young guys. They should be able to handle playing multiple games in multiple days. But I do agree. We looked dead against St. Marys.

Same here. We've made the finals a bunch only to see it mean nothing regarding tourney seeding. Should move it up a day. It'll never happen because of TV but that's what they should do.

Not only pace but balance. We shouldn’t have one team play the bottom four just once and the top four twice and vice versa. Scheduling isn’t as far out as FB so we can do better.

There's always gonna be some difficulties there, both from a projection and logistics standpoint. I mean look at OSU and Northwestern from a pre-season expectations to reality now.

The pace stuff seems like low hanging fruit though.

I get it...but I mean the BTT was how IU snuck into the NCAA tourney last year, right?
Yes and was fine for last year, I still feel we got a bit of a bad deal for seeding. This year we're firmly in. I'd take the rest granted we wouldn't have a play in game to deal with this time.

You’re forgetting how bad IU’s resume was last year. They needed those two games in the big ten tourney. If I recall correctly, they only had 2 quad one wins going into the BTT and then added 2 more with the Michigan and Illinois wins. Not sure there’s any footing to complain about seeding.

Tough to complain when we slipped in the back door. Plus it was a great deal for the NCAA to have that much interest in a play in game

We're currently playing a 20 game schedule

Agree on the pace and the challenges, just unfortunate we have the imbalance like this

Now that I’ve thought about it more, I think Illinois should give Groce another shot. He was super close to breaking through iyam imho

I’m mean he’s got sweet 16 experience, so that means he’s a really good coach and it can’t go that badly?

I’m pretty sure most Purdue fans care about the Dance. To suggest otherwise is pretty clownish. OTOH I also think a league title is something the players and coaches should be proud of…especially when you win outright and potentially by 3 games. Apparently the other “Big Time” programs hold a similar level of respect for a league title. The BTT I give two shits about unless my team needs a couple of wins or needs to win it.
