East has arguably the top 3 teams this year and the West has without a doubt the worst 2 teams in the conference…

Alright gang, how do we feel about the ACC Challenge this week?

I feel confident in the B1G team in five of the games, with half the matchups appearing to be true toss-ups. Really need to show well in this event to cover up some of the non-con warts that have popped up so far.

Confident in B1G W:
Purdue vs. Florida State
Illinois vs. Notre Dame
Michigan State vs. Louisville
Indiana at Syracuse
Wisconsin at Georgia Tech

Toss-up:
Michigan at UNC (This would be a good get-healthy win for UM after the past two weeks)
Iowa at Virginia
Northwestern at Wake Forest
Penn State vs. Miami
Rutgers vs. Clemson
Maryland vs. Virginia Tech
Minnesota at Pittsburgh (this telecast should come with a parental consent warning)

A win would be a steal:
Ohio State vs. Duke (Kenpom actually has OSU favored, but I disagree with Mr. Pomeroy here)
Nebraska at NC State
Illinois won’t win. I’m not even sure how many guys are going to dress. Hearing at least 5 guys out.

What did I miss today? Spent the day on the frozen tundra. At least one team in this state still knows how to win.

Big Ten East is better but the only teams I’d be “nervous” to play this year from a talent gap perspective are OSU, UM, & Wisc. Those 3 teams can dominate the trenches & there’s just not much you can do. PSU has recruiting talent but is a severely flawed team, they are as bad of a running team as Purdue & that’s just inexcusable for them IMO. Not much separates their team play from a school like Minnesota other than brand name.

Big ten East isn’t some gauntlet it’s made out to be at times.

Top 10 teams in that span even if you take out Ohio St.

Since division realignment in 2014, the East Division has won all 7 Big Ten championships. That has been won by 3 different teams and Michigan could make that 4 this year.

Call it what you want but I think the imbalance at top is pretty clear.

Why do you keep talking about last years COVID year? This year the East has 11-1 UM, 10-2 OSU and MSU, and a 7-5 Penn StTe that nearly beat you with its backup QB.
MSU didn't do well in the games it played against the west. Double digit loss to Purdue and eeked out a win against an awful Nebraska team. UM has improved to be on the level of OSU this year (same tier as Wisconsin normally), but nobody else in the east is scary. PSU is a shell of what it was a decade ago, and MSU feasted on a pretty easy schedule...their only "good" win was over UM.

If UM can lose to MSU this year's they can lose to Iowa. Not saying they will, but I wouldn't be surprised to see it happen.

MSU has a handful of nice wins.

Miami
Western Kentucky (slight favorite to win CUSA)
Penn State
Maryland
Michigan (heavy favorite to win Big Ten)

Garbage teams include Nebraska, Indiana, Northwestern, Rutgers had an okay season by their standards, and Youngstown State.

Not too bad. How can anyone rip that schedule in an era of playing like 3 garbage non con teams and half a conference that won’t go bowling? Everyone ends up with like 5-7 games against non bowl eligible teams. Just look at the SEC and their D1AA opponents in November. 5-2 against bowl eligible teams and 5-0 vs non bowl eligible teams. Great season.

You know who else played Nebraska and Penn State close? Michigan and Ohio State. They were 2 close games for those schools and 2 close games for us.

Correct

I didn't care at all about the bucket game. We've known for weeks it would be a blowout. You were the only one convinced it would be close or a trap game for some reason.

So the 9 voters who voted for Purdue number 1 don’t count? Lol
