Who would have thought a school that chants “IU sucks” at seemingly all of their sporting events whether IU is involved would indoctrinate their fan base to have an unhealthy hatred of IU? I for one am shocked by this
Both fan bases have an unhealthy hatred towards each other. That’s what makes it fun. How many posts were made on iu message boards “not understanding the love for Purdue” in the off-season? When IU had its run with the Zeller team against Purdue, the posts/tweets from IU fans/media were just the same #iubb. This shit is cyclical, you know this. It just so happens that it’s your guys’s turn to take your medicine. Our time will come again.

You can only play 5 guys. You’ve played some terrible defensive teams so far. Wright State also gave up 96 to MARSHALL in the game before yours. Again, maybe wait until after this weekend to start your crap talking.

Yes it was a scrimmage and exhibition game, but you apparently didn’t look so hot against Providence (picked below St Johns in the BE), and also looked very shaky against Uindy. Not saying you aren’t better, but prove it first.
We’ll see after this weekend. Purdue will have some games where they shoot poorly, every team does. But I have zero worry about the offense being a top 10 offense in the country at the end of the year when it’s all said & done.

There are Two ends of the court. This Purdue’s team weakness is not offense. It’s defense.

Agreed. But it’s a Painter team. 19th in adj D on Kenpom right now and 34th on Kenpom is the worst Purdue defense in the last 7 years. Weakness is relative here IMO. A weakness to win the title? Sure. Weakness to be better than IU? Lol no.

Lol at citing Kenpom this early in the season.

Should be an easy two wins for you against IU. Sounds like it would be really embarrassing if you lost. Glad we set those expectations.

That’s probably true in general. I don’t go on IU home boards, so I can’t answer that question. I personally don’t hate Purdue anymore than any other big ten team, so that probably causes the disconnect for me.

Purdue’s team is essentially last year’s team + a year of experience & adding Caleb Furst. More relevant compared to other teams. & eh a loss @ IU won’t be embarrassing, it’d be disappointing though.

I grew up in southern Indiana & all my hometown buddies (& still buddies to this day) are IU fans so it goes well beyond just message board shit for me lol

Purdue’s team last year was 18-10 with a first round loss to North Texas. The only relevant wins you had were over Ohio State twice. You took advantage of a very easy conference schedule (same thing I hope IU does this year).

You are good, there is no doubt about it. How good remains to be seen. Based on what we have seen so far the Big Ten is very overrated this year.

What quantifies as a “relevant” win? They beat OSU twice in regular season, lost to OSU in OT in big ten tournament, beat MD, @MSU, vs. MSU, @IU, vs. IU Vs. #21 Minny at the time, vs Wisc, etc. as the youngest team in the big ten. I just don’t know how you can use last year as a negative when some of Purdue’s most impactful players were 1st year guys (Ivey, Edey, Newman, Gillis, etc.)

I’ll never take winning in Bloomington for granted but just think Purdue is eons above IU at this point. Trying not to be biased but think Purdue looks much more crisp on offense & has more ways to beat a team inside/outside than IU & like Purdue’s depth pieces better too.
Possibly b/c Indiana has a new coach......3 transfers playing big minutes....a freshman getting plenty of run?

IU's offense is coming along. Bates is going to be really good...Geronimo keeps getting better....Kopp seemed more comfortable tonight. Of course there's TJD/Race. Not sure whats going on with Stewart. Johnson is solid....shoots good enough to keep ya homest, and gets to the rim---See's the floor really well.

Purdue is certainly better...No doubt. But this is an Indiana team that could be pretty good. Defensively, they are really good. Get after you.

We'll see how it pans out.

I loath PU, I save my hatred for much more serious things. My dad, sister and a close cousin all attended PU. I was almost shunned when I announced my intent to go to Indiana (a little hyperbole) I always cheered for IU as a kid to be different.

What I don't do is what most PU posters do is blast them on this board during their games, it seems very sophomoric but to each his own I guess. Just seems petty and most PU guys partake.

Booze filled rant over.

Don’t doubt any of that but just don’t think they have the horses to match up this season. Can still be a good team though.

In terms of horses....IU has the obvious in TJD. And he's obviously improved. Johnson is a huge upgrade at the PG....Race is playing really well. I'm sure you watched, so you can see the potential that Bates has----kid is going to be really good. Geronimo gets better, and better. His shot looks really good.

Outside of Eddy and Ivey, not sure where the huge gaps are??

Edit: I thnk you guys are going to be really good. But I also think Indiana is going to be a lot better than what you
dlike to admit.

So instead you put Purdue posters on blast for putting IU posters on blast? Very noble & not at all hypocritical.

*whispers* “every fan base puts their rivals on blast when they’re inferior”. I’ve yet to find a fan base that takes the higher ground. Now individuals can think they do but at the end of the day most of them are just full of shit.

Once again...I've called out Trojan, SNU a lot and even Borden. And you should never use noble, you nor I are noble. Now blast away.

I’m not going to argue because it’s kind of pointless if you think IU has as much offensive firepower as Purdue.

So you’re a white knight? Ugh, even worse. Just talk shit about college basketball, this isn’t a morality issue for Christ sake.

I’m joking but you don’t need to take talking a little trash about your rival’s b-ball team so serious. 4/5 of my friends are IU fans & I’d take a bullet for most of those mf’ers (not all lmao). It’s just a sport at the end of the day, might as well have fun with it.

Where did I say that? I simply asked outside of Eddy/Ivey,where are the huge gaps? IU has 3 guys in double figures---TJD/Race/Johnson...Two are averaging double/doubles. Couple other kids at roughly 7ppg.

Im not questioning who can score better/firepower---Just stating the gap is as huge as you think it may be. We'll see with Purdue soon, with UNC/FSU coming up.... Tad upgrade from Bellarmine, Wright St and Indiana St.

Again---Purdue is going to be/could be/should really good. Especially offensively.

I'm probably a lot older than you 55. Might explain my lack of patience. Memory isn't the only thing you lose when ur an old fck

Again, no one said IU has as much offensive firepower. I do think we are the better defensive team, and I don’t think the gaps between the two teams are big enough that we can’t win at home. I’m guessing the spread will be something like PU -3.5.

Gonna pain me to say this, but was impressed by what I saw out of IU's supporting cast last night. Bates looks like he can really score it when he gets going, and Kopp hit three or four really big shots to stop a few runs by the Johnnies in the second half.

Still dumbfounding that TJD doesn't get more touches on the block down the stretch - 12 FGA seems way too low against a team that had Aaron Wheeler as their backup center guarding him in the post. And Xavier Johnson is going to provide a lot of Jekyll and Hyde this year with his decision-making if I had to guess.

Shot-making and depth are going to be the question-marks for that group, IMO. If Bates, Stewart, and Kopp are hitting from deep, they can be really dangerous. But if that well dries up and TJD continues to need to log 35+ minutes every night in the post, there are going to be some rough nights in the B1G.

On a separate note, I'm sure the Hoosier faithful around here are glad to see their program is back in the national spotlight for all the right reasons.

I don’t view this chant at all like the “F Matt Haarms” chant. I found this one funny. Especially given the Barstool St Johns account tweeting about her choosing Smith over TJD.

Yeah but Purdue chants that IU sucks, so who is the real shitty fan base here (VBG).

Unacceptable at Jalen Smith court.

It’s too early for Kenpom to actually matter but I’ll get the ball rolling.

3-UM
4-Purdue
6-Illinois

13-Ohio State

18-MSU

24-Iowa

35-Maryland
38-Indiana

44-Northwestern
45-Wisconsin

73-Rutgers

81-Penn State

97-Nebraska

107-Minnesota

Being the first IU game I've watched this year I was encouraged. Defense is pretty solid at times, offense isn't as one dimensional as it was. Still looks like a team needing to get a bit more and guys get comfortable with each other. Kopp dribbled about 5 times more than he should have. Johnson definitely has some game to him but he needs a little sharpening. Over all they have more weapons, defense will keep them in, but the bench isn't deep enough to stay with the top of the league.
