Has Holtman been to a sweet 16 at OSU yet ??

Nope. Only one S16 total and that was his last year at Butler. I remember reading something on UL’s board about them preferring Holtmann over Painter and I just laughed. They’re the same age and Painter clearly has been the more successful coach at a program that is tougher to recruit at. Typical UL fans being clueless.

I haven't seen Iowa defend a team as good as OSU this well since we had Adam Woodbury clogging the paint. OSU has lacked determination offensively at times off the ball, but for example Jordan Bohannon getting up in guy's faces on perimeter switches is not vintage Iowa.
Ohio State shot terribly from the 3 today, and that was a big difference. That and turnovers, which Iowa forced several.

I do think that's gonna be an issue going forward with OSU.

They got guys that can shoot, and are 3rd in the Big Ten in 3pt%.

But who is gonna step up and hit the big 3s for them going forward when we get to the CT and the NCAAT?

Meanwhile, gotta love Iowa continuing to make the rest of the posters in this thread kick rocks and be like "oh yeah well......your defense still sucks anyways!"

Would he play D1 if his dad wasn’t the coach?
Most of the recruiting services had him as at least a top 200 type player. That, it turns out, was optimistic. He is a D1 athlete unlike his predecessor Jon Lickliter. Not elite as a pure athlete, but he's not a scrub either unless you're only looking at the top of division 1. He would be a really good D1 role player if he could shoot. Instead, since he can't, his role shrinks and our spacing suffers and the best we can hope for is something like last year where he avoids turnovers feeding Garza when everyone knows Garza is getting the ball on the block.

No doubt in my mind if Fran had one more star player (or still had Jack Nunge), Connor gets his minutes cut before both Murrays (obviously), his younger brother, Bohannon, Perkins, and Touissant. And Rebraca at the 5. Lacking another really good body, the unfortunate reality is that Connor probably looks like stability at the end of the bench when we're out of sorts and giving up a run.

He'll be a punchline in Iowa for years, but the other side of the fishbowl here is if he went to any other school if he wanted to get away from home for college, one good month of play in an otherwise very mediocre mid major career would cause Iowa fans to lose their shit at Fran for not loving his kids enough to get them to play for him.

yeah, he'd be a solid MAC level player.

True, but have to wonder when Ohio State makes the second weekend with him in the big dance

Could be this year though ...
Last year’s surprising B1G flop in March could just as easily be the B1G dominating March Madness this year. That’s what makes the Tournament fun. Everyone is too scarred by one year of flopping, I see multiple B1G teams who could make a run with the right matchups, hot shooting and a bit of luck … and that last part is honestly a huge factor.

I’m even rooting for y’all to win a game in the tourney so that y’all can give Fran another raise and extension.
They’ll never let him go. Unless he gets to Lick’s level. He’ll win just enough to stick around but never win anything of significance. Beat up on cupcakes in non con, around .500 in B1G, win first four game in tourney, maybe a first round game then, rinse and repeat. Occasional NIT year.
