The NBA is stale to me. I haven't watched in probably 7 years. A mid-season tournament sounds awesome and would be fun to see.

Anyone else think this would be a good idea?

Idk man, just reminds me off all the “in my eyes” worthless domestic soccer tourneys like the FA and Carabao cup in england.

Certainly wont be the thing that swings me to or from the nba regardless, but to each his own.

I’m a big fan of European soccer and enjoy their in-season tournaments (Champions League/Europa), but for me those only work because you’re playing against other countries/leagues. I don’t think this change would make me feel more compelled to watch.

Im all good with those big multi country tourneys in soccer. Good stuff. The domestic cups, not so much. Not really pumped for man city vs cardiff city in the quarters of the carabao cup, or whoever it is. The big clubs usually trot out their backups anyways.

Guess it would be cool if the EPl and budislega etc had some sort of playoffs, but still winning that isnt gonna mean 1/10th as much as winning the table.

I would be more likely to watch the final 8 more than any other regular season game.

I already watch a ton of NBA. Multiple games a week. So I’m sure I’d watch some. But as others have said, I’d rather see games against top Euro/Asian teams. Or heck, even a g league all star team or something like rookies vs 2nd year guys.

Yeah, I watch games anyway but not sure this really appeals to me more than just regular games do.

For me the problem is everybody is bombing 3s the players are so athletic/long there's almost no room on the court with 5 on 5 to do much else but shoot the 3 and put up the incredible highlight here or there. Still miss a post game where the O runs through a big man things like that. Don't get me wrong the players are great. Now get off my lawn.

Sometimes I think they should make the court larger. There’s just SO many big, athletic, skilled guys now. Make them have to defend even more space.

The talent level in the NBA is just absurd these days.

I know it sounds just crazy but, would it flow better 4 on 4?

I like your idea better.

I feel like no matter what they do during the regular season, people will always fall into three categories when it comes to the NBA. People that don't care, people that don't care until the playoffs, and year round fans that follow one team. I guess you could say that for baseball too, but the regular season games just don't mean much a sport where they play 82 of them.

This is probably true. But I think there’s a 4th: people who play fantasy and watch to follow specific players.

Not sure they could ever get me back. I was really into it through the 90s. Boston Big 3 was probably the last time I actively gave a **** outside of gambling. It's been easily over a decade since I watched an NBA game.

this. Has to incorporate something outside of the normal league to give it the novelty.
