Most watched regular season games on ESPN this season

I can't tell if you're being serious here. I seriously hope you're joking, but if not:

You think its easier to get Duke season tickets than Kentucky? Duke's following sucks? You can't compare home attendance when the arenas are different sizes.

Which of Duke's games weren't on TV? I've watched all of them on YouTube TV (it's a streaming service that these damn millennials and cord cutters use).
You bet, I am not joking.

It is easier to get tickets at Duke than Kentucky.

Duke has a 1940's arena for a reason. They can't sell tickets bozo.

Many of Duke's games were not on TV. Go back and read the threads on this web site.

Geeze.

Sorry.

I can prove that I have all the UK games for the last few decades. No one at Duke can prove that with all the Duke games, dude. I have them. Ask Lurker.

I can get tickets at Rupp in like 10 minutes, I can get them at Duke too but it's going to cost me a lot more money. I think you need to check your Sunday through Saturday pill box, you may have missed your meds.

On a side note, Bert, @TheDude1 wanted us to tell you that he’s sorry for being an asshole to you. And that he respects you. And wishes you would pull him off ignore.

Btw, love the pic of your old man. Very cool.
TheDuke1 does not respect me. He holds me in contempt.

I ignore him.SmokinSmile

I don't need to know what he thinks. I know what he thinks.

Could you imagine a player like him going to a nobody school like that? They could be their own legend.

In all seriousness, he could probably turn an obscure midmajor into a final four contender. Many of them have solid guard play and experience.

No response yet.

I have over 1,400 Kentucky games on video. No duke fan can come close.

Duke is a popular team, as is UNC, and Duke in particular has a bevy of star attractions, including the biggest college basketball attraction since... I don't even know. Really.

"Wednesday’s North Carolina-Duke men’s college basketball game drew a 2.7 rating and 4.34 million viewers on ESPN, up 80% in ratings and 79% in viewership from the teams’ first meeting last year, which aired opposite the Olympics (1.5, 2.43M), and up 50% and 41% respectively from the first meeting in 2017 (1.8, 3.08M).
...
"It also scored the largest audience for a UNC-Duke game since March 2011 (4.61M) and tied the highest rating since March 2009 (2.9)." https://www.sportsmediawatch.com/2019/02/unc-duke-ratings-increase-espn/

The Zion effect is very real and very potent, as seen by the drop-off for the second game:

"The absence of Zion Williamson likely kept the game from greater heights. Last month’s UNC-Duke game, which saw Williamson play just 30 seconds before leaving with an injury, posted an 80 percent increase in ratings and delivered the largest regular season college basketball audience in five years." https://www.sportsmediawatch.com/2019/03/duke-unc-ratings-increase-espn/

Amg I posted before scrolling through to see that this thread was trashy nonsense. Carry on.

Does anyone know the most watched games this season? OP is just ESPN.

(Shameless, hubristic carnival barkers). They’re unbearable, and I RARELY have it on. ESPN has become like like that old friend that you have to build up some stamina - or have to be really bored - to hang out with and afterwards you’re just drained and realize why you don’t hang out much anymore; it’s exausting, and you’ve outgrown them. You can’t even muster enough emotion to hate them. It’s just cold indifference at this point.

Its because the media machine at ESPN convinces people that Duke is must see TV. And specifically Zion.

Its the exact same formula they use for Red Sox/Yankees, the Warriors or Lebron, or Alabama Clemson Ohio State.

I think Zion is making Zion must see TV, and ESPN is just reveling in it.

I think the biggest problem is that ESPN prioritizes individual players instead of teams. That's not an issue when it comes to tennis. But college basketball is a team sport. There are plenty of great teams out there that get very little recognition in comparison simply because they lack the electrifying talent that Zion possesses. I get that ESPN is an entertainment company more than a sports company but I don't think ESPN is just reveling in it. They have an agenda and are pushing it as much as they can.
