Louisville @ #2 Virginia on Wednesday.

I like UVA. A really good team. BUT.........they need to get more athletic. IMO, that is what dooms them in the NCAAT. When they run into athletic teams, who can get their own shots, it really seems to give them issues. Their defensive style is predicated more toward a help defense, opposed to having guys who can lock you down, block shots, etc, etc...

Still a very good team. But IMO, until Bennett gets those types of guys, I just don't hink he'll ever get to a FF.

I wouldn't call it berated. More like they were hoping UK was going to lose and were super bummed.

Well, that’s understandable, being that IT was Vandy. However, idk if I️ participated in that one. Prob didn’t. However, we didn’t look bad tonight, and I’m actially thankful we didn’t lose by more. UVA is tough at home.

I think Duke is extremely athletic. So is Louisville. So is UNC. ANd yes, you beat all three. That still doesn't dismiss the issue. Those teams challenge UVA more than any.

Look at Bennet's loses in the NCAAT:

2014: # 1 Seed. Lost to 4th seeded MSU. Always athletic.
2015: # 2 Seed. Yep-----MSU again.
2016: #1 seed. Syracuse.
Lat year: 5-seed. Florida.

All teams that are very athletic. Have guys who can go get shots. Beat you off the dribble.

Teams UVA beat during that same stretch(In NCAAT): Butler, Hampton, Iowa State, Belmont, Coastal Carolina, Memphis.

I'm not saying UVA cannot beat these teams. Obviously they can. But IMO those types of teams give Bennet fits. His defense is a team derived defense. Not really schemed for a "one on one" stopper. So when you guys face teams with multiple, athletice guards, wings, etc, etc...it seems to be your downfall.

Viriginia is really good. Could easily get to the FF. But I wouldn't want to see an Arizona, Duke, MSU, ype of team in my bracket. Or an Ohio State. IMO, those teams are dangerous to UVA.

I understand people's hesitation regarding UVA and the postseason. That's fine. But it's also a pretty small sample size. There's not a team in the country that UVA can't beat. That doesn't guarantee anything in a single elimination tournament but I also don't think there's a systemic issue. If we keep earning top seeds in the NCAAs, we'll break through eventually.

On a neutral court I️ still think you guys win, but much closer, maybe 66-63. Each team played well tonight, we just made dumb turnovers, and you all capitalized, which is what good teams do.

I agree. Never said it was system. I said it was the guys in his system. Just feel he needs to get more athletic. As for the sample size?
It might be small, but it's a consistent sample. I agree that there is not a team IVA cannot beat. They are really good. Crazy efficient on offense. And of course, as always, very good defensively. I just think their kryptonite are teams with athletic playmakers, wings, guards, etc, etc...Just don't feel it's a coincidence that those exact type of team are the teams who have knocked them out. Once can be chalked up as an anomaly. Twice an issue. But four times? Well, that's a pattern. His first NCAAT team was drubbed by an athletic, jumping jack Florida team.

Moss I'm not bashing UVA. Just an opinion. I think they are very, very good. Just feel Bennett needs to get some athletes.

Seems like that would be the type of team that would be anyone's kryptonite. Regardless, I'm perfectly happy with Bennett. Maybe we never win it all. Maybe that will always be our knock. But UVA isn't getting a better coach to come to UVA. If the only knock on a coach is that he hasn't made a Final Four yet, we're in pretty good shape as a program.

The field isn’t particularly impressive this year, UVA has as good of a chance as anyone.

Agree. Bennett is terrific. And no, not really. Those types of teams aren't anyone's kryptonite. Of course every team usually has a team, style, that is a bad match-up. IMO, UVA is a bad match-up for a tin of teams. They seemingly always force their type of game; Alas, Wisconsin under Ryan. UVA is a great team , with a terrific coach. I just think to get to that "next level", he needs to add some athlete's to his system. Just seems to be what he is lacking.

I lived in Evansville as well. Hated that town. Lived close to Jacksonville; Tybee Isalnd, GA. About an hours drive or so. Absolutely loved that area.

Note: Evansville wasn't to bad, I guess. Lived there while in college, and a tad after.

@IUfanBorden I loved the Evansville area and did not like the heat and humidity of Florida. I guess that is why I moved back home after my retirement. I did live in Hidden Hills Country Club and I honestly believe that the golf course is the best in Florida. It was designed and built by Arnold Palmer, if I remember correctly. One tough place to score with lots of water and sand.

13 to 7 in turnovers. Louisville played really well. UVA just played better. We shot better than they did and we took better care of the ball. We gave up 1.07 points per possession. That's significantly over our average. But we also put up 1.23 points per possession.

We have an effective 4 game lead in the ACC through 10 conference games. If that's not legit, I don't know what it is. But, I think UVA is at the point now where all that matters is postseason success. I personally think it's pretty stupid to judge a team's merit solely based on a 6-game single-elimination tournament but that's the way it is. Either way, I'm just enjoying the ride. This team was UNRANKED to start the season.

Yea, March is just a huge crapshoot. The best team wins MAYBE half the time. That being said, defense goes a long way in the tournament. If the offense is clicking, could be the Cavs year.

Maybe but, as you said, it's a crapshoot. I can't tell you how often I think about the Syracuse game. It's unhealthy on my part lol. ****ing Syracuse.
