Still plenty of time to convince me otherwise, but I don't see either being who most felt they'd be at 1 & 2 in the Nation. I'm a KU homer and at this point they are not anything special. From what I've seen from UK they are in the same boat. Both have rosters that can turn it around but at this point give me the field against both.

I would agree. Kansas is on track to shit the bed today also. Both teams have the pieces, the question is can they put it all together? Our 2014 team is similar to this one. We finally put it together at the right time. You guys are also missing dok. He’s a game changer

I have no hope for this KU team. When your 2nd best player is LaGerald Vick you aren't very good.
I think you guys are very good. When dok comes back, Grimes is a beast, Vick, Lawson’s, and McCormick. Like I mentioned, you guys are like us you just have to put it all together.

Grimes looking like a player lately. Hopefully has cleared the freshman wall. Shooting is going to kill KU even if Dok is healthy. As good as Dedric has been all you need to do is body him and he gets out of control. DeSousa is my dream wildcard. Decent shooter, mobile and athletic as hell. A man can dream because that's probably the only way I'll see him play.

Agreed, both teams need to create an identity.

Consistency is an issue for both, I think. It tends to happen early for teams that rely on younger guys (or new additions to the program) to be key cogs.

It takes more than a few months to fully grasp the concept of “you went to a blue blood school to be in the spotlight. And if you don’t bring it every night, someone on that other team is going to see an opportunity to steal your shine.”

The good news for both is that the talent is there. Once the motivation and chemistry get going, it’s anyone’s game.

I still expect a hell of a game later this month, regardless.

They way weve looked on the road, I fully expect UK to destroy us. Hope I'm wrong lol
Don't expect anything . . . If we've shown anything this season it's how to Jekyll & Hyde. You all may come to Rupp and make our Duke game look like a lite prom night resistance.

Glad there's still plenty of time between now and then for both teams. If we played tonight it would feel like a letdown honestly. Still a few weeks for both of us to nut hp and fix some things so the game can live up to its billing.

We’re so spoiled as fans when Kansas and Kentucky have a combined record of 22-5 and are ranked #7 and #18 in the nation yet we all seem to agree that our teams are shit.

Guess there’s always next year.

I’d like to see UK play with a chip on the shoulder. But we’re at home so I’m afraid KU will be the one with the chip...

No and no Silvio. No rebounding and not much in the way of 3 pt shooting. It will be an even game. But I don't think either team will be hanging banners this year.

if Kansas doesn't get a lot better they lose at Rupp by 20+

If only there was a way to bet on which team loses by more?

I’ll admit I’ve lost some interest in this season (partly because I’m focused on the Chiefs right now).

But it’s mostly about watchability. Aside from a few games and/or runs, this team hasn’t been very enjoyable to watch. With or without Azubuike. And the chemistry doesn’t appear to be getting better.

I’m also at the point as a fan that only a championship will excite me. It’s hard to get pumped for a B12 title and a loss in the elite 8 or even final 4.

Silver lining could be that next year might be what this year was expected to be. As of now, Azubuike, Lawson and Grimes are projected as low 2nd round picks if projected at all.

From an LSU unbiased fan think both teams are very talented and Imo KU further along than UK and they should be as they have a little more experience. Self is a very good Coach and Cali a excellent recruiter. UK hasn't gelled quite yet but are getting better each week. It can be extremely difficult to win on the road sometimes even against way more inferior teams. Just the way it is in BB and if KU can go into Rupp and get that win then would be surprised even if they are the better team. At the end of March wouldn't surprise me to see both of those teams back in the finals but Duke and a few others are legit contenders. All it takes is that special mojo and playing great to get to the final.

Most Kentucky fans I know accepted this on opening night. Painfully obvious.

Kansas in their defense has since lost a starter and a 6th man. Both front court players.

You have to take a step back a look at the situation and readjust your expectations. When Kansas was picked #1 that was with the assumption of Dok and Silvio. Neither of which will be with the team. They can still be top 10, they just aren’t the best. If they still had those guys they would be rolling undefeated and this wouldn’t be a question. So you can say Kansas has underachieved.

Kentucky meanwhile was over valued if you ask me, at least to start the year. They don’t have a “generational” talent on this squad which is very different. They will improve and could challenge for a final 4 but I don’t see the pieces for a top 4 team. Too many role players and no Alphas. Now, if Hagan’s defends the way he can, Herro starts banging shots, Johnson continues he improvements, and the bigs give them 30 & 20 consistently they will win a bunch of games and be right there.

Agreed, solid analysis.
