Well the guy said other than the 08 shot, their luck has been absolute sh*%. Not true. Duke crapped the bed in that game. Required more than hitting that open shot, Duke choked.
There's nothing in that Duke game that I'd call lucky. It was a back and forth game and some shots were missed, but nothing that I'd point to has lucky. Sure, we avoided our usual crap luck, but neither was it good luck. It was just winning a game.
I guess you could make an argument for the missed shot by Allen at the end, but that shot was contested and is a 50/50 shot at best. Normally that shot goes in against us.
And even so, that game was followed up by Villanova going nanners from 3 in the 1st half.
Then the Oregon game the year before...that was the most ridiculous shooting display I've possibly ever seen. That guy literally hit back to back 3s to close out the 1st half, one was a bank job from deep and the other was one that hit the back of the rim, jumped 10 feet in the air and fell through somehow. They had trash shots going in against us. By the time they finally cooled down and became human again, the game was out of reach.
Also, I'm not just talking about in-game luck either. We've had more than our fair share of injury issues in the tourney. The worst has got to be Joel Embiid. We get a weak draw in a weak field. Who beats us if we have Joel Embiid? We went from a legit top team with him, to a very mediocre bubble team without him, one that is suddenly height challenged, and we draw a team with 2 seven footers as our 2nd round game. Horseshite.
