The title run in 2022 was the worst thing that could have happened to them.
100% this. They have to keep him and now, he just landed 5* Caleb Wilson. That made it even worse. HD is going to he there a while.

I would be curious to know what the majority of the UNC fanbase is thinking, as far as Hubert for next year...
2022 UNC was an 8 or 9 seed (don't remember which one), and Love channeled his inner Kemba Walker and brought UNC to a title game. But UNC had a very average regular season (for UNC standards).
2023 UNC is preseason #1 and doesn't qualify for the NCAAs.
2024 UNC is a one seed and loses to Bama in Sweet 16.
2025 looks to have NIT (if UNC accepts, they didn't in 2023) written all over it.

Yeah, it should tell you all you need to know when all of UNC's rivals would probably chip in and pay to keep your coach from leaving.
There probably isn't a basketball team anywhere that would even entertain hiring Hubert but UNC has him coaching at one of the biggest programs in the game because Roy told them to.
Know next to nothing about his recruitment, but I'd guess he was sold on the school/history/MJ, not the shitty coach.

Yep. Been at the same high school nearly 20 years. Top 3 high school basketball program historically in Illinois and kids don't care at all about college teams. All about the league. Kid here just got a nice bag to go to a mid major. NIL is crazy.

If they do can him, UNC should try Kenny Smith as HC with Shaq, Charles Barkley, and Ernie Johnson as assistants.
They would land some monster classes, no question. Parents would be drooling over the thought of having their son coached by that many legends.
