BIG IF, how do you think it will be viewed? Will it be discredited? Will it be celebrated?

I've seen the 1976 Indiana schedule, they did a great job of scheduling in OOC but only played one ranked team in conference. I wouldn't consider it the most difficult schedule ever. But I admit I was not there so IDK much about it. I do have questions about how the tournament was run though because it looks like they played 5 ranked teams in the tournament and 4 were in the top 10?? Crazy

Here is there schedule:

Always wondered if Scott May hadn’t been hurt in ‘75, if Indiana would have beaten UCLA. Ralph Drollinger was no Bill Walton tho Kentucky allowed him to have a career game in Finals. Would have been back to back titles for IU.

Very little doubt if May isn't hurt, IU wins the title in 75.

It absolutely should be celebrated. GOing undefeated is, well, I mean---really hard. EVen if you play in a piss poor conference---Ya still gotta win 6 NCAAT games. First two probably cake---But once you reach the SW 16, it's very likely all Top 10/20 teams from then out.

Right, but should it be celebrated the way an undefeated National Championship would be celebrated is what I’m asking.

Meh--- I don't think so. All four of UCLA's undefeated seasons totaled 30 games...Baylor or Gonzaga could reach that. I get it----different times. But rather its 40-0, or 29-0, its still a "0". Not to mention, winning the 6 straight games.

Going undefeated in a crazy season like this is even more impressive. Dealing with a messed up off season, two week pauses, random players out at the last minute, opponents scheduled on like 2 days notice. Not to mention all the protocols around testing, practice, masks during games, etc.

Mad props for teams and coaches who can navigate all that.

The big 12 is making sure Baylor goes undefeated. They will make up the WVU at Baylor game but don't plan on making up the Baylor at WVU game. WVU already flys/travels more than anyone in the country.

Get out of the Big 12. You need to be ASC

Easier to win on the road this year. Everyone on here knows how hostile road environments get for the top teams. Some people would absolutely look at an undefeated season this year differently than normal. Me included.
Agree somewhat...I mean when you throw in COVID, cancelled games, limited contact with coaches, etc, etc...I mean, that's a strain no team has ever had to endure. To be able to maintain focus, play at damn near a high level every night---including at home, with no fams---I mean thats tough.

For the top teams home court isn’t as big of a factor. You know this.
Meh......I dunno, brother. TBH, I doubt UK would be 7-13 if there was 23,000 in Rupp. Or Duke would have the home losses they have. I think the home crowd is good and beneficial for all teams--including the boss teams...You ain't getting that energy...You fall down 10.12 or so---get on a nice 6-0 run, and the crowd gets rolling----But, well, it doesn't.

All in all, I see no asterisk for this season.

I’ll give either props if they do it. Covid or no covid, going undefeated is impressive.

Which do you think is a more hostile environment to play in?

Number 2 Baylor going to unranked Oklahoma State, or unranked Oklahoma State going to number 2 Baylor? Hell, even when Kentucky isn’t good and we go on the road, it’s brutal and everyone gives their best effort.

Point is, all the games we watch in a normal season where a juggernaut goes to hostile environment of a team on the rise or a big rival, aren’t happening. Those are the games most elite teams lose during any given season. So yea, people will look at this champion different than normal whether you agree or not.

obviously discredited because they played a shortened COVID schedule. And played in front of no road fans.

This season will have a massive asterisk when it's all said and done, same as the bubble NBA.

Unless, of course, Iowa wins the national championship fair and square.

Then you all can take your asterisks and use them to plug your butt holes. :)

The fattest asterisk the world's ever seen would be slapped on an Iowa natty this season.

But fear not, friend, there is no need to worry about this.

I'm not worried at all, because any and all asterisks are to be returned directly back to the sender's butt hole. So if you like big fat asterisks in your butt hole, then you won't mind Iowa winning the national championship........

Of course, I'm assuming since you don't like Iowa, that's not something you'd like to have happen to you, so perhaps, my friend......it is you that should be worried. SmokinSmile

It is pretty crazy how Gonzaga, playing in the WCC, has more Quad 1 games than Baylor lol. I mean, you'd think Baylor could make that up in one month. But, here we are with two weeks left in the season (not including the conference tournament), and they still haven't caught Gonzaga in Quad 1 games. Gonzaga has also played two more Quad 2 games.

But they played in front of fewer home fans too. And honestly, many of the missed games were early season cupcakes. I’m guessing Baylor would have crushed Texas State, Louisiana Monroe, and Houston Baptist.

Well, when you postpone/cancel 6 quad 1 games.....

Baylor has missed several conference games. Are those going to be made up?

It will absolutely be discredited.

They'll say Gonzaga didn't play anybody very good .... like most years.

For Baylor(and both teams really), it will be brought up that games were missed, and that there were no tough road contests since most home crowds were either nonexistent or extremely reduced.

And they'd be right. If we had two undefeated teams this year, when we haven't had one in decades, then it's pretty evident that it isn't a coincidence.

I am not debating which is MORe hostile---Its obvious. BUT....What about when #2 Baylor is at home vs unranked Okie State....Down 10.....6 minutes to go. Baylor goes on a 8-0 run....lead is down to 2....Fans are in a frenzy,,,Baylor players are playing to the crowd----waving their arms---telling to get louder...Place is LOUD as fuk...

Ummm, but wait....Nope. Its a funeral home. Except for the janitor, who's trying his hardest to make noise.

IMO, it balances out....
