JC is what he is, I don’t take him seriously. The other Kentucky fans in this thread are getting nervous and putting other teams and conferences down is a way to feel better about their team I guess. Kentucky has always been the big dog in the SEC basketball world, now the football schools are pushing them to the side. The ACC is down, but that doesn’t mean Kentucky is better because of it.
BLOCKHEAD, everybody is putting 'other conferences' down this year, ya friggin' simp. After the SEC, (with 13 teams being projected in the tourney) the only the Big 10 is remotely close on the competition scale. The best team in the ACC has a legit shot to go undefeated because the conference sucks. This is not breaking news.
What do UK fans have to feel better about? Because they lost to Bama (championship contender) and Vandy (top 25 team on the road) in back and forth games that UK could have easily won? No cause for concern from me, other then Pope needing to figure out why UK comes out with a lack of energy and intensity in too many games.
Now if UK loses to Arky, or SCAR, or LSU, then I would have cause for concern.
As it is, UK has greatly exceeded any expectations and is rated #12 with several marquee wins. I will speak for myself, but I ain't pressing any panic buttons.
Also, again, speaking for myself, I have been "putting down" the ACC since the season started, when UK was barely a top 25 team. I continued to put down the ACC when UK was #4 in the country. And I will put down the ACC the rest of the year, regardless of how UK performs.
UKs performance has no impact on my ability to call a spade a spade, which is namely that the ACC is a glorified midmajor conference. It is what it is.

Well let's go back to the beginning of the season. UK is rated #23 in the pre season poll (if I remember correctly) and quite frankly, should not have been rated at all.
Pope inherited nothing. He put the roster together on the fly within a few weeks to a month. No five star recruits.
I don't know of any (I am sure there were some eternal sunshine pumpers) UK fans that had any high expectations, based upon the situation Pope found himself in when hired.
Fast forward to how this season has progressed. You already know all the big time wins UK has. UK is currently rated #12 while playing in one of the toughest conferences (speaking solely about this year) in NCAA history.
Why would I not be happy? No one thought UK would have the results they have had.
Yes, if UK regressed next year of course we would sour on Pope and start asking concerning questions. But this year he has surpassed all my expectations, and then some.
