This is a solid take. Too honest for this board, really. Goes for most all of the coaches we root for, and the ones we love to trash. On that note, EAD, K.On the flip side, if you were to ask Roy Williams (someone who knows Krzyzewski) about K's character, I'd bet you would get a much different answer than you would get from internet warriors. Same for the people who question Roy's integrity.
Bruh, this is a cot damn novel. Is you JD Salinger, dawg?Silly.
First, K has always recruited the top players. Always. You remember the Avery/Brand/Battier/Burgess class? We went after Kris Humphries, Luol Deng, Corey Maggette, Patrick Patterson, Livingston, Greg Monroe, Harrison Barnes, John Wall, and countless other top tier talents. Some went to Duke; most didn’t. That’s still the case.
Second, times change. That is just the way it is. When Coach K got his start under Knight and just after, he was at Army, so there was no discussion of this sort of talent. When he came to Duke and started landing guys like Johnny Dawkins and Danny Ferry and a bunch of other super talented guys, there wasn’t an idea of leaving early to play in the NBA. When that become an option, K went after a number of guys he didn’t get who were those types. Eventually he started to figure out how better to land these guys, especially as he coached guys of that caliber for our country. For him to now be figuring out how to manage a team of talents like that, while being cognizant of the business of both NCAA basketball and NBA basketball, near the end of his career... well, I’m sure if you had asked him what the world would look like if you asked back I 1986, I believe K has done an admirable job as a coach in creating a program and taking care of his kids as best as he is able, all while reflecting an increasingly difficult world to manage in terms of people and money and fame and the general shifts cultures go through.
And while K is obviously human, and a prickly guy with a huge ego (a driving force behind many super high achievers), I generally approve of and admire the way he has coached at Duke. He was a hard scrabble kid of a teacher and a firefighter who, at a young age, volunteered to serve our country. He is a great coach, but as a teacher myself I look at him and understand that he is, in fact, a teacher, and I think he is fantastic at it. As a member of the Duke community, I am proud to have him, and I think he has reached out to the Duke community in so many ways. If you read about the families he gets to know, the people he reaches out to, the quick phone calls he makes to young fans in need and the letters he writes to sick grandmas... well, he isn’t perfect, but I’m glad he is our coach, and I wouldn’t trade him for any other coach in history. And if you were lucky enough to have him be YOUR coach, you wouldn’t either
I’m guessing not nearly as long as you have been considering how much stupid shit you postHow long have you been sniffing glue?

Oh so close.
That's exactly rightBut but the MEEDIA loves K.
Media Darlings or something ....
You weren't the targeted audience.Sorry, just have to say... that’s a really shitty article. Like... really poorly written and shallow.
As long as he keeps our potential #1 picks healthy all is OK for me.Damn. After one game. The pussification has officially moved into the college basketball world. Whole lot of butthurt.
Won't get into your Cavs (yikes) but after watching Pittsburgh go in without lube last night on my Panthers, the Browns might take us out in Cleveland. As long as he keeps our potential #1 picks healthy all is OK for me.
That was a rough one.....but we should be in get a better draft pick mode by then. at least it took a little longer than usual this season.Won't get into your Cavs (yikes) but after watching Pittsburgh go in without lube last night on my Panthers, the Browns might take us out in Cleveland.
I get the Zion hype.. but if I get pick number one, I'm going with Barrett still. That was a rough one.....but we should be in get a better draft pick mode by then. at least it took a little longer than usual this season.
As for the Cavs, hell if Zion is all that maybe Lebron did us a favor by leaving.
If he's even better than Zion my point would stand, I guess. Thank you Lebron?I get the Zion hype.. but if I get pick number one, I'm going with Barrett still.
