Ended up being an entertaining game. Duke turned it over and unc took advantage. unc turned it over and Duke didn't take advantage. Both teams wanted it, hasn't felt that way in many games this year.

Couple contacts I had in the Charlotte area said they couldn’t believe Patrick Williams was ranked so much lower than Wendell. Folks just raved about Pat’s toughness, selflessness, and willingness to work.
I asked CY (FSU assistant) why Ham never really targeted Wendell since he’s pulled so many kids from the area over the years. The response basically confirmed that. “Not our kind of player.” Not that Wendell is a bad kid or anything, just not the right fit for how FSU plays.
Was his ranking just a product of the Duke offer? What made K interested in Wendell anyway?

Yeah, it was actually a pretty good game I thought. Teams were intense and really into it. Too many times UNC has looked like they hate playing this year. That wasn't the case last night.
Why are we shitting on Wendell? I may be remembering wrong, but was he that high of a prospect? I don't think he is an amazing player or anything, but we have plenty of guys to shit on.
A lot of coaches slept on Patrick and coming out of W. Charlotte High that shouldn’t of been the case.
I think he was a top 30 5 star guy but that is still the crapshoot range IMO. Outside of the very elite you just never know how guys are going to do. I know Roy really wanted him. I think he envisioned him as a smaller version of a Pinson type guy maybe. At his size it is tough if you don't shoot well though.
Wendell, more than anybody, suffers from the lack of a star in my opinion. I was definitely expecting more, but I agree with your sentiment, he’s far from the biggest disappointment.
Cannot blame one person for the close loss at home. Bottom line Carolina had a big advantage in the paint and they took full advantage of that. Both teams are still so green and young and they both will get better with game time experience...
I thought personally Duke made a mistake guarding the high post. Teams have laid off us there and it has clogged up things. This allowed us to to throw some big to big passes and helped us score better down there I thought. He could have been wanting to avoid straight line drives that could lead to fouls perhaps but we don't have anyone other than Brooks who really can shoot it out there.
He was top 15-20 going into his senior year. But he dropped to upper 20s by the time all the people like Ant Edwards reclassified.
My point was more in the Charlotte area. If I recall he won Player of the Year in the Charlotte area and despite his ranking drop, he still was ranked ahead of Patrick Williams. People I talked to in that area really questioned that. It was pretty clear Pat had a much higher ceiling, and was also much more physically prepared for college ball.
Anyway, my whole point was that if Wendell didn’t have to go to college he was probably a mid-to late first round pick. Now...will he ever be drafted? Meanwhile, Pat went 4th overall and is starting for the Bulls.
Yeah, and I guess that points out exactly why the NBA always wants these guys to go to college or somewhere before they draft them.
I'm always skeptical of anyone who falls through the years. Seems to mean everyone else caught up to him and that decline continues relative to his peers.

UK recruited 5 small forwards on one team and none of the five is really any good at any other position.
North Carolina has one player on it's roster that can actually shoot the ball into the basket. And Dook is playing zone defense and playing their " small forward, as promised in recruiting" at the 5 spot.
A Duke vs unc thread that is on page 2 on day 4. That is the passion level for this year, here and everywhere else.

it was those four plus UCLA, Louisville, indiana, Arizona, Cuse, and I forget who was 10th but still pretty crazy.
