When K thought his team sucked he was all about cancelling the season. Now that he doesn't have a team that sucks he wanted to make sure they changed the forfeit rule (but wants to get the season in) and now we see why.

I was having this discussion with a buddy the other day. All of these games being cancelled all around sports. Right now we are at a time when the games don't matter as much. But here in the next couple months, starting with the NFL, the games really will start to matter. I am HOPING that this virus runs rampant over the next few weeks, and some immunity is built up before the post seasons begin. Is that sound logic or wishful thinking on my part?

I don't understand why asymptomatic people are even tested. Just stop that and it isn't an issue IMO. But yeah, I think your theory could happen.

You are supposed to play with 7 players and 1 healthy coach. I'm sure teams will not release who their 'sick' players are though so teams can basically do whatever they want if they have some star players sick.

Agree,

I believe we will have a March Madness. Could be wrong, but I think this wave of COVID blasts through, and at some point they are gonna change these testing rules.

Unless somebody prominent passes away somehow tied to COVID, etc.

Should be along any time now.

I literally bought tickets to the Clemson-Duke game Christmas morning. Oh well. Maybe I'll get another chance to see them play in Greenville in March.

Asymptomatic, well-conditioned athletes are going to be fine, regardless. How many D1 basketball players have been hospitalized in the last two years from COVID? Could be wrong, but I'm guessing it's zero. If anyone needs to be tested, it's probably just the coaches and staff.

The ACC routinely does what the SEC tells them than to. Especially in football. We have used your conference for years to help the Sec in that regard

All this stuff you seem so proud of the SEC for doing was first done by the ACC though.

I'm surprised K isn't leading the way on making sure his players are safe.

Hopefully lessons learned and his team will be ready to go in March.

This can def have an effect on conference titles and league standings.

After seeing the SEC's model. I wonder what the NCAA model will be. Should they exclude teams that have had problems keeping it under control?

If they had that mandate, I bet they'd be willing to play with enough players.

Calipari says he's calling top to bottom on fill in games if someone cancels. Then you have others who are cancelling.

Jokes aside. It's stinks for the kids to not to be able to play in those arenas.

It's best to take every precaution.

When the ACC decided to start up the 7 healthy players and 1 healthy coach model I think their belief was that teams would actually stick to that. I believe what we are seeing now is that not being enforced.

Do you think it's catering?

I think SEC will stick with this.

It doesn't help ducking.

Should it be a forfeit?

Shooting from the hip.

Might as well pull thevplug on the season tbh. Gettin out of control. At the least need to get the fans out again imo.

But idk this just sucks all atound. I get not wanting to travel but not like the other team cant bring covid to them 🤷‍♂️

totally agree about the asymptotic thing, starting to wonder if sweden didnt have it right all along despite the shit they took at the begginning but not like ive been following it much.

Well, it seems the ACC didn't cancel these games but apparently Duke did. Not because they didn't have enough people to play but simply out of an 'abundance of caution'. It seems that according to the guideline they should play but are choosing not to, at least according to their own words. If that is the case then technically by the rules it is a forfeit but we all know that won't be the case. Forfeits are dumb anyway but it seems they probably could play.

Haven't followed this rule much. If they were to forfeit say, 8 road games, they would have 8 losses in league play, right? But the Ls would not show up on their overall record.

If yes, then they could go into the ACC T undefeated at home but with 8 or 10 road losses, how many are scheduled. Maybe be #2 or #3 in the country but like, #9 in ACC T?

Or am I just wrong about all this?
