Does 23-25 verses ranked teams really deserve a lifetime contract?…

Imagine being the guy that runs to RR after a UK loss just to troll, then poaches another dude's post to bring back to the national board to utilize for his own trolling efforts. 😆
Rupps rafters is first class entertainment. It’s worth the price of admission. I have to use my buddies login now for there however because I am completely blacklisted on my own account.

You could literally nit pick multiple UK coaches over the century and they would all have a better career than Auburn basketball. Too funny.
Pre Bruce pearl Auburn is not really relevant. We have the best team in the SEC now and pearl is going nowhere.

Touche i forgot about liggin and harrelson and wasnt sure what class miller was in. But harrelson and liggins were both lretty shitty thenselves until they got surrounded by the studs cal brought in. Still bcg last year was an nit team(with jodie Meeks as well) before cal brought in the stud frosh.

But ur right i have no clue what barbee left. Crazy how all these cal assistants cant sprinkle that magic developmental sauce on any of their players lol. Cal mest be real hush hush about his developmental tactics lol.
Auburn only dreamed of being an NIT team before pearl as well. In the 15 years we missed the ncaa tourney. We only made the NIT twice. Cal walked into a vastly better situation than pearl did. Barbee’s last point guard recruited literally got arrested for point shaving at Auburn. Our own players were trying to lose. It was the worse situation of any program in a power conference

we also had a guy in our rotation that was a walk on his sophomore year at Auburn after winning an intramural league championship his freshmen year at Auburn.

That's interesting, since Tubby wasn't fired by UK and he had the Minnesota job lined up before he even resigned.

He was fired by Minnesota and Memphis though...
He had the Minnesota job lined up because he knew the inevitable.

Not at all. We own this board

Right. Just like you own the SEC during your arbitrary timeframe of the last 6 years. According to facts, Kentucky has 6 combined SEC regular season championships and tournaments titles, while Auburn has two. Thoughts?

I have never claimed Auburn owns the SEC. I have claimed our trajectory is as good as anyone else’s in the SEC. it really started in 2017/2018

I really admire Bruce for self-imposing a post-season ban right before the season started last year because he knew they were gonna suck ass anyway. 😆

Well the ncaa was holding cooper out for no reason. We had two other starters hurt to start the season. Yes it was a smart move on bruce’s part

Calipari will be forced to resign at some point as well.
At which point big dick bruce would have a raging boner because he wants a job like that so bad. Must suck knowing he's only at Auburn because his options at the time were basically Auburn or a mid-major and he'll bolt as soon as a legitimate program gets desperate enough to sniff in his direction.

Pearl isn’t leaving auburn. Kentucky also can’t outbid auburn.

Kentucky wouldn't be bidding anyway, but it's so cute that you think he wouldn't leave Auburn. 😆
He won’t be leaving auburn. He has no reason to. Auburn is signing top basketball talent now. He can do everything at auburn that he can do anywhere else now. Especially with the SEC money that’s only going to grow even more now. With NLI the SEC is going to dominate even more.

NLI = National Letter of Intent
NIL = Name, Image, and Likeness

And replace him with who?

Bill Self isn't leaving KU
Mark Few? Cal has been to many more FF's than Mark

The top 5 coaches in the game (K is retiring) is Self, Wright, Cal, Few, Bennett

You want mark few or tony bennett?

Does Jay Wright give you more than Cal? Do you bank on young unproven coaches?

I'll do it. Won hundreds of titles in my lifetime *. Just give me an 8 figure buyout and huge assistant budget and it'll be ez.

Oh please like any coach woukd willingly leave UK to go to ice box minnestoa in basketballs.

The writing was on the wall, tubby just saved the AD from having to fire a former natty winner.

And dont get me wrong, tunbys career trajectory since then proved it was the right call. But regardless tubby wasnt gonna be coaching UK any longer, minn job or not. I mean again what basketball coach woukd leave arguably the best program of all time to go to effin minnesota:

Tubby not officially being fired is semantics imo

This story isn't exactly parallel, but it's hard to not to chuckle when I consider how Wooden almost became the head coach at Minnesota. Here's an excerpt from the LA Times:

In 1948, John Wooden, then at Indiana Teachers College (Indiana State), tentatively agreed to become the head coach at Minnesota, pending a formal offer he anticipated would come in a long-distance telephone conversation with the university’s athletic director.

Wooden waited. And waited.

When the phone finally rang, it was UCLA.

Impressed with the opportunity and thinking that perhaps Minnesota had reconsidered, he committed to move to Westwood.

Minutes later, the phone rang again. The Minnesota athletic director explained that he had been caught in a blizzard and couldn’t reach a telephone. Wooden informed him he was no longer available.

Look, they ran Tubby out of town and they were right to do so. They were declining rapidly and the dude is a good coach for the mid-major or football school, but the job became too big for him at Kentucky. He wasn't really adapting to the player culture of this era and wasn't good enough to overcome that, he would have had to have been great to do so, and he just wasn't.

Super good dude, the older he gets he could be a great asset as an assistant down the road somewhere, for sure.

I think it was time for him to move on at Kentucky but it just cracks me up that Kentucky now gives calipari a pass while they blasted tubby for the same results at the end

Ive kind of thought the same thing. Different AD, characters in the story, circumstances with COVID etc, but something has to change.

With Tubby the milk went sour they were taking 8/9 seeds a few years in a row and they didn't have upside they were outmanned when they reached the 2nd rd. They belonged in that seeding range there was no under achievement they were just average. The next coach up didn't have a lot to worry with.

Cal gives them that sometimes but there is upside if they underachieve in the reg season to the 8/9 line, they did reach a final game from that 8/9 seed line.

It's different because Cal seems to connect with the players the talent is substantially better the results haven't been there lately but they are still dangerous. Next year they have a monster recruiting class lined up and they will more than likely be competing for the F4/title. If not, it will be interesting to see the vibe.

This year they are in the pile of teams that could easily get hot and make a post season run. Tubby's last couple years, there just wasn't really that vibe. They had a ceiling under Tubby and it was lowering each year.

So...

Christian Laettner's Tournament Wins in 4 Years: 21
Calipari's Tournament Wins in 5 years: 18
Auburn's All-Time Tournament Wins: 17
Wayne Keon Turner (born March 22, 1976) is a retired American professional basketball player. He played high school basketball at Beaver Country Day School in Brookline, Massachusetts. As a star point guard for the Kentucky Wildcats during a four-year period in which they won two national titles (1996 and 1998) and lost in the championship game once (1997). He set the NCAA record for games played with 151 games in his four-year Kentucky Wildcats career.

How many titles does Christian Laettner have? The same as Turner, plus Turner has an additional final game appearance.

I will take Turner.

Post Script: Auburn ain’t in the friggin’ running on any thing basketball. They are losers of the first order.
