At least when it comes to Xs & Os. What he did at Butler, and what he has done with the Celtics, is tremendous! Be honest. How many times have you folks actually seen him get out-coached?
Wouldn’t have made a difference against UConn. ; )He is a really good coach. Just wish he could've gotten one more basket in his college coaching career.

I can’t imagine any type of player that would not want to play for Stevens.
He’s one of the top 2 coaches in the nba. Celtics hit the jackpot with him.
I can never tell if people actually believe this. I can see a Donovan coming back to college, but Stevens is one of the most revered minds at the highest level of the sport he loves with the most storied franchise.Next duke coach.
Tough for me to get on board with him. They were something like 29-2 when Walton coached them a couple years ago, and 12-0 with Mike Brown in the playoffs last year.Who’s the other, Kerr?
If Stevens takes this team to the finals IMO he’ll be no worse than a top 3 coach. He’s on the verge of a very big pay day and if you’re a fan or not you have to be impressed in what he’s done.
never because when it's a coach people like they say it's the players, or lack of, when a team loses. At least when it comes to Xs & Os. What he did at Butler, and what he has done with the Celtics, is tremendous! Be honest. How many times have you folks actually seen him get out-coached?

Should they get swept or lose 4-1 to the Cavs it will be because he didn't have Lebron....but same is true of casey and he'll be ridiculed and fired.
Just curious...since this is the worst Cavs team in a decade with Lebron, does that mean Lue will get credit if they make the Finals?Casey shouldn't be fired. I think it's ridiculous that they were the one seed and having an awful series could be the end for him.
However, the Raptors had the second best record in the NBA. They have a history of choking. This year was supposed to be different. Instead they get swept by the worst LeBron led Cavs team in a decade. They choked in game one and two. Tried to come back game 3 only to let LeBron have the ball and the game and quit last night. It's not a good look at all.
Just curious...since this is the worst Cavs team in a decade with Lebron, does that mean Lue will get credit if they make the Finals?
Lue didn't get credit when they came back against the Warriors in 16. I don't know why this year would be any different tbh. Everyone says it's LeBron's team. For better and worse.
Stevens and Lue are in exact opposite situations. If the Cs lose, Stevens will take no blame and it will be because his players were out. If Lue wins, he'll get no credit and it will be because of the players. Stevens wins, and he gets all the credit. Lue loses, and he gets all the blame. Let's not forget, if not for Rondo's injury last year, it's likely a healthy Cs team goes down to the 8 seed.
I think Lue is like most....nothing special. Give him talent and he can win. Don't and he wont.I think Stevens is an awesome coach, but the thing that gets me is people acting like he's coaching the 2013 Sixers. Tatum is a top 5 pick. Jaylen Brown top 5 pick. Horford top 5 pick that got a max contract. Rozier was right outside the lottery. That team is probably a top 5 roster in the NBA pre-injury. Lue isn't a great coach, but you really can't prove it one way or the other with Lebron on the team. He has a ring though which a lot of other coaches can't say so /shrug.

I was on the stevens bandwagon thinking he has done more with less. But has he? That roster, as you mentioned, is pretty loaded. Even without Kyrie and GH.
And what's weird is I think this season he's getting all the credit for doing more with less because Kyrie and Heyward went down. But now we see Rozier is a very good player and my guess is if he's not already, Tatum will be better than Heyward.Stevens before this year you could say has done a good job with less. This year you can't say that at all. There are probably 15-20 teams that would LOVE to have their starting lineup, even after losing Irving and Hayward.
Ok what's your point? The Celtics are going to be in the ECF again and their young players have developed like crazy throughout the year under Steven's watch.Stevens before this year you could say has done a good job with less. Stevens' out of bounds plays he draws up after timeouts is legendary. Just look at Game 3, Marcus Morris was about to take a bad fadeaway long 2 and Stevens quickly called a TO to get the ball into Horford's hands so he could post Covington up.And what's weird is I think this season he's getting all the credit for doing more with less because Kyrie and Heyward went down. Dude are you serious? Every NBA team is filled with all former 1st Rounders. GTFO here with Tatum being a "top 5 pick" as if that matters. All the cons about him coming out of Duke have proven to be wrong. Brad Stevens has turned a wing player who specialized in mid range isos coming out of college into an all around offensive threat who's learned how to initiate contact and hit 3s at a comfortable clip. He's a versatile wing defender too.I think Stevens is an awesome coach, but the thing that gets me is people acting like he's coaching the 2013 Sixers. Tatum is a top 5 pick. Jaylen Brown top 5 pick. Kerr isn't even in the top 5 conversation. Mike Brown and Luke Walton led the Warriors to nearly a perfect record while they were leading the team. He's basically struck gold and can now sit back and enjoy all the underserved accolades he gets.Stevens ain't better than Kerr. Stop it. Rondo don't get hurt last year they lose to the 8 seed Bulls in the first round. However what he has done with this team after losing their two elite players is super impressive.
He's probably 3 or 4 right now. Pop and Kerr are the top 2. Carlisle is really really good too, but the Mavs are shit.

It's like a sales guy who nails a huge account that sells for him every month or a kid with a trust fund dad that he knows he can tap into down the line.
I'm not implying he isn't a good/great coach, but Lue has called some great OOb plays, as well.....how about even winning 2 games with the same one against Minnesota and then Indiana in the playoffs. Always helps when the players execute. And, yes, it was Ty who did the unconventional and had Lebron go length of court and not take it out at half court.Stevens' out of bounds plays he draws up after timeouts is legendary. Just look at Game 3, Marcus Morris was about to take a bad fadeaway long 2 and Stevens quickly called a TO to get the ball into Horford's hands so he could post Covington up.
Most coaches wouldn't have the guts to call a TO there because they're afraid of letting the opposing defense reset.
I would credit him. But Tatum was a top 3 pick. Not like it should be a huge surprise.Ok what's your point? The Celtics are going to be in the ECF again and their young players have developed like crazy throughout the year under Steven's watch.
Rozier is an absolute killer and Tatum is already as good as Hayward and perhaps better. Do you not credit Stevens for their development at all?
On this I agree 100%. Stevens is far better than Kerr.Kerr isn't even in the top 5 conversation. Mike Brown and Luke Walton led the Warriors to nearly a perfect record while they were leading the team. He's basically struck gold and can now sit back and enjoy all the underserved accolades he gets.
