Fox was a good Xs and Os guy. I hate drawing the obvious comparison, since both were st Nevada when hired, but there really hasnt been an apt comparison in the SEC. Ben Howland maybe....but he is an eatablished name with guys like Westbrook to trot out in mama's living room.
What baffles me, and we hate Mike Anderson here lol, is why Mike didnt fare better at Ark. He was killing it at Mizzou. Is there a story? Nolan giving him the Bob Knight?
I don't think so. Like anything else it was a combination of things. When he was killing it at Mizzou he was doing it with some top notch recruits who were close family friends of his. I think he gets a little more credit for that than what he deserves. If you remember, the year after he left his team was a No 2 seed and won like 30 games, then lost pretty fast in the tourney if memory serves. So they were a good team even after he left.
As for UAB, idk how he pulled that off. But one thing is for sure, over the past 3 years or so he has really slacked off and lost his fire, especially in recruiting. It seems like he got really complacent being "home" in Fayetteville and didnt have the fire and effort he did in the years prior to.

UAB has had some great coaches for a program its size. I was thinking that 2 seed year he was the coach. Well, part of me was sad to see him go. He and Cal DO NOT like each other Laughing Its always good to have a villain. Said it many times, between the games we played qhen Nolan was there, and the epic football games weve played (we've played like 7 times and 3 or 4 were instant classic ) Arkansas is a natural rival for Kentucky. Hopefully Musselman pans out and we can get back to having some heated ass basketball games
There have been some head scratchers for sure. Like how in the hell did we beat you guys a couple of years on last second buzzer beaters? Yall should've beat us senseless. Probably because we play like The Dream Team in the Bud lol
That was either the year before or after we did beat yall senseless....like 70-40 or some such. Youre talking about the Portis squad. That team should have been better it feels like.
Thus why Mike got fired. He built us back up to relevancy but his teams always underachieved
